Woke up late, put on a short jean skirt and a sweet close-fitting black tank top with little white dots and paired it off with a cherry necklace, dangly Chanel earrings and black & silver heels. Also, a sparkly small blue butterfly on my right shoulder. Sexy sweet. Went into Manhattan mid-afternoon and let me tell you, certainly got a lot of looks and noises of appreciation. One guy even commented, “Aw, you are very pretty.
I went to 54th St in search of Kinko’s, but it wasn’t there anymore so asked the doorman at the hotel and he got his hot European co-worker to tell me. I had to go to where Time Warner shopping place and Central Park was. I had to do my work in the computer lab, and boy was it hot there! The AC was broken. Anyway, I got someone to help me with the scanning etc and it was nice because he was so patient. I couldn’t believe how long it took me to finish the job though. I had to print, cut, tape, and put everything together. I’m really glad LLR Consulting (the small PR firm) gave me plenty of petty cash to pay for this kind of stuff.
After that, I headed over to West 4th and found Alibi Lounge nearby. Met some gals who arrived at the same time and at first was mostly talking to them, and one in particular. We moved to where the bar was and I noticed the cute bartender. Tattoos, dark spikey hair, beautiful pale blue eyes and too cool, which may just be a front, but I like passion so he’s not my usual type. (People say passion is overrated. I know that for me that is not the case… I don‘t think I can ever settle on someone who isn‘t at least passionate about me) Anyway, ordered a Shirley Temple and then sat off to the side. It didn’t take long for a couple of guys to join us. It was cool to meet S, who is older but very funny and interesting. He bought me a drink and we talked about travels, work, etc then we got up to mingle with the crowd.
I met M who seemed nice. He called me “Beauty and brains,” saying that it’s hard to find someone who has both in NY. Hm. Then, S came and introduced me to a couple of his friends. It was cool to meet GK who is from Turkey. We discussed music, movies, and so on. I was really getting into all the songs that were being played: Poppy, dance music, top 20. My kind of tunes. GK noticed and said that I look like a dancer and added that I can’t stay still. Well, if the music is that good, it makes me happy and all I wanna do is dance!
S left early so GK and I joined a few other people and M made me a rose from a napkin and kissed my hand before leaving. Charming. Anyway, was cool meeting the others and they were reacting to me--
What I was saying, how I was acting and GK said (about me), “She’s very broad minded. That’s what I enjoy about her (and getting to know her).” Aww!
After we left, and I was walking to the subway station with GK, he asked if I was hungry. We stopped by the Washington Square Diner. I got a Root Beer Shake-- It was quite extraordinary, laden with delicious vanilla, whipped cream and a cherry on top! Also had some chicken fingers. Mmm. (I know it’s not the healthiest, but I’ll go walking tomorrow…) We had great conversation about books, how we hate when others ruin the ending of anything, our senses and somehow, he made me laugh… A lot. I like that he’s a really easygoing kind of guy and wasn’t trying to get with me; just trying to get to know me and be a friend.
On my way back to Queens, a MTA worker struck up a conversation with me. He guessed that I worked in fashion, which was kind of cool and then continued talking to me while on the subway. I’m not really interested in him, but I don’t know how to communicate that to people so I just kept chatting. Grr.
