So, Valentine's Day was not a wash. It was incredibly fun, and enjoyable. I went to the Rock Center Cafe (overlooking the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink) to meet with S and TKO -- When she finally found it! S got me a Bailey's coffee drink, complete with whipped cream (so delicious) and we also ordered fries, which were oh so good! We were at the Rock Center Cafe for a while, and since we were already on 5th Ave, walked along the ave where all the most expensive shops are. Mostly window shopping, but we just had to go into H&M (and spotted an African American actor named Anthony something...) Gucci, Lindt (chocolates!), Tiffany's (and checked out the engagement rjngs as well!), and then the Plaza Hotel which was absolutely gorgeous! So exquisitely elegant. Breathtaking.
After that, I headed over to the Lower East Side to meet with JC, B, R, and a few others for dinner. We decided to eat at S'Mac (a mac&cheese place) but that was too crowded, so went to Brick Lane-- Indian food. It was really nice in there and had a London theme, since Brick Lane is a real street there. The wait took forever, but we were fine sitting at the bar, drinking mangolassi's and enjoying the free appetizer they gave out.
Anyway, finally got seated (it was 10p!) and JC ordered for all of us. He got us chicken tikka, korma, mixed grill, shrimp, a tomato sauced chicken, rice, garlic naan... It was all very delicious and great conversation all around-- Of course! The total cost wasn't too bad, and I got to pay less because I'm poor. The bartender had given me more change than I was supposed to get (which I didn't notice when he handed me the money), so it worked out well.
After dinner, I went with C and R to a bar, but it was kind of dingy so we left it to check out One and One. Downstairs is clubby music, and it was definitely more our scene. The two girls went to get drinks, and a few seconds after they left, the tall guy standing by the stairs (that I did notice when I first got down there... asked if I wanted to dance. But of course. He was pretty good looking, lacking blue eyes but that's okay. So we danced for awhile, then moved to making out and soon enough I was taking a cab with him back to his place. This time I actually don't even feel bad for going home with him.
We had a banging good time in his bed, and boy was he energetic. People call me energetic, and that's absolutely true so I don't just give that adjective out to anyone. However, at one point he told me: "The condom kind of fell of while we were having sex." Why the hell did he knowingly keep going if that happened! I don't understand why guys want to do it condom-less (after they know I'm not on birth control)... Aren't they scared they're gonna get a girl pregant?! Seriously! So I have to do damage control. Again.
Early morning, we wake up. He gets me a bacon, egg, cheese sandwich and OJ so I join him in the living room to watch TV. He lets me pick whatever I want to watch, but I end up falling asleep again. And he covered me with a blanket. Got up a couple hours later, and he walked me to the subway station. And makes sure to get my number.
Sunday was another eventful and fun day. I had to go uptown to meet with a bunch of friends to go to the Nicholas Roerich (Russian) museum. It's in a cute little house-like and cosy building, with amazing paintings all by Roerich. He had a lot of mystical, religious type influences, and used color brilliantly. I had a really good time checking out all his stuff.
After the museum, we went a few blocks to this amazing Hungarian bakery (Voted "Best Uptown Bakery") I just had to get the baklava (was divine, by the way), and they gave me a huge piece. Seating was limited, so I ate with J and afterwards stayed around to chat with C and VJ.
Next I headed all the way downtown to Canal St to meet with SP. It's always nice to see him-- He's very smiley, and we laugh a lot together. He's a really sweet guy. He took me to a Vietnamese restaurant, but beforehand we stopped by a frozen yogurt place. I got Ovaltine cold boba, and we shared orginal fro yo with mochi-- All different flavors. Mmmm! Then we continued on to the restaurant, and had a lot of food. We enjoyed shrimp summer roll with peanut sauce, and I ordered grilled beef with vericmelli noodles and a lot of vegetables. Adding oyster sauce to flavor it made it that much better. For dessert, there was caramel flan. Everything was well done, and as usual the conversation was intelligent, funny, and interesting.
We finished hanging out a little before 10p, which worked out perfectly because I had to be in Duff's Brooklyn (for DS's birthday) around 10p. It was really close by actually which was nice. Found it pretty easily (with the help of a guy) and found my buddies right away. I hadn't seen all the guys for awhile, so I'm very glad I decided to go.
So, caught up with DS briefly, and then picked out some non-metal (ABBA!) songs for the metal bar. Then, I got the chance to talk with MA about the state of my affairs, which was helpful. After that, MF came in and I've always thought he's a great guy and actually got a chance to talk to him more. Then, MH came in-- When I first met her we didn't connect at all, but tonight it was great! She's totally cool. MM finally made it too, and he's a total sweetie to me. Also got to meet a bunch of other guys: I, C, A, and so on. They're all so much fun! And I took tons of photos-- Crazy ones. Plus, I took two shots and it didn't affect me adversely: Kamikaze (which wasn't that bad-- It's sweet) and then Baileys with whipped cream. Mmmm, good!
Even though Duff's Brooklyn mostly plays metal music, it was still an awesome bar. Everyone's so nice, and there's a downstairs with fake scary monsters, a naked mannequin with a mask, a deer head, couches and cute stuffed animals-- Some crazy stuff, but very cool. For another thing, there's a cat that lives in the bar and he's really cute.
And Duff's has the sweetest, and coolest bartender ever! She's so awesome. And incredibly insightful... She read my hands (not palms) and stated correctly exactly what my mother is like. She then went on to talk about me, and the things she was saying was so beautiful that I had tears in my eyes so she ran out from behind the bar to come comfort me-- Hugging me close while she continued talking. Here's what she said about me:
You find it easy to love. And you're gorgeous. You have a beautiful energy. I felt it when you first walked into the bar. You light up the room, and you put effort into showing care for others. You have done a good job. You are valid. And you're free now. Your eyes are free now... I can see into your soul. But you cater to what you think people want you to be, and you have to find the freedom to be "soft you" (as opposed to "party me"). You're single right? If you are soft you, you won't be single for long. You're glowing. If I were --, I'd want to marry you.
All of this coming from someone who just met me, barely even talked to me and she can see all that. I am completely in awe and floored that she sees that in me. She is amazing.
By this time the night was starting to die down, so we left around 3a, and one of the guys lived in Queens as well so we cabbed it to Queensboro Plaza so we could take the 7 train together. He was cool-- nice to talk to, and he let me have a Murray Mint (from Ireland, which was the best damn mint I've ever had! I need to get some of that! Somehow. Made it back to Flushing without a hitch, and gotta get some sleep now!
I'm meeting MC for the lunch special at Room Service (Thai food), and bringing my book for PR Writing II along so I can get some reading in (as I've done no homework this weekend...) Then for supper, heading over to Brooklyn for a homecooked meal with a NYU-based organization: Kids Acting Out (volunteering).
