Girl drama... The other night went out to Taj with a friend which was fun and without incidence. Chatted with the cute blond, watched the belly dance inspired fashion show, ran into some people I've met before, received a chair massage.
After all that, we headed to Pranna and the place was filled with business school postgrad students. We were looking for cute guys, and she pointed to one in particular. Said cute guy started a conversation with me, and I tried to include my friend in the conversation but he continued talking with me then asked if I want a drink. My answer to that is always yes (even if I don't like the guy) so after that my friend got mad. She said she was leaving because the guy I was talking to was actually someone she wanted to meet. When I reminded her he had started talking to me, she responded that she would never do that to me- go for a guy she knew I was interested in. She left so quickly I didn't have a chance to respond.
Then, the cute guy kind of ignored me after getting me the drink. Huh... I started talking with one of his pretty good looking friends. He was really nice and a great listener. Then I found out he's married, with a baby! Shakes head.
I was getting ready to leave, when I ran into MC and friends about to come into the club. That was lucky, because I hadn't seen MC in quite awhile. He's a great guy- Good at including people and very personable. So I hung out with the gang for awhile in the downstairs part.
Over the weekend there was Free Museum Day so I met with CF, VJ, C, RT, J and a few others to check out the Rubin Museum of Art (Hindu, Himalayan, Asian inspired- Quite beautiful, and very intricate colorful work) then had lunch at Republic. I got the chicken and rice dish with mushroom and bean paste. Pretty good. Afterwards, we headed up to the Intreped, the ship air craft carrier etc. It was pretty awesome to see it, finally! Was fun to walk around, climb up on some of the machinery, take photos, being on the top deck.
I then met up with RG whom I hadn't seen for several weeks, so it was great to play catch up. She's very sweet, and doing well. After hanging out, I went to the Upper West Side to meet with IA- We made our way to the Empire Hotel Rooftop. It was a meetup event, so a couple of guys remembered me from months ago (and I didn't recognize them). A lot of guys came up to us, but we weren't really into them. We were looking for hotties, but there weren't a whole lot of them unfortunately.
RT found us, and we had good conversation with him but he and his friend wanted us to go to a different place while my friend wanted to stay so we moved to another spot. This African American was sitting close to us, so he started a conversation and at first he seemed okay but then turned weird and annoying. Finally we got rid of him.
Then, the music was getting louder, and better so we went on the floor, and danced a little. We were pretty much in between two quite nice looking men, but they were pretty engrossed in their conversations. After a little bit, we decided to ditch the place altogether and check if there were any movies playing. We got to the theater late, so I suggested we just watch something at IA's aptartment on the Upper East Side. We took the bus over.
It was nice to chill in the cozy apt. We had popcorn, and lollipops. We couldn't really decide on a movie so we watched re-runs of "Malcolm in the Middle" Totally cracked us up!
I stayed over til late and IA still expected me to take the train back home. And it was still raining out. Thank goodness I had someone to call. JC is a total sweetheart, and he had always said I have a place to crash in the city if need be. So he came with a huge umbrella to pick me up from the station, and gave me a long comforting hug. Finally got to his apt, and was able to lie down and relax...
Next day, I went to Chelsea theater to see Bright Star, the film about Keats the Romantic-era poet with DH and a few others. It was a nice film-- I liked the love story romantic bits, and the acting was excellent. Just a bit slow, lagged a little.
Afterwards, we ate at Patsy's, famous for their pizza. We got a large with sausage topping. Mmm!
Speaking of good food, I had dinner at Nomad (North African cuisine) with J, and two others, including a cute blond guy. I enjoyed talking with him. Hope to see him again! Anyway, I got the 3 course prix fix which was $20. Started off with a yummy soup of lamb sausage, tomato and poached egg on top. Mmm. Then there was hanger steak with garlic mashed potatoes. Quite good. Last was the chocolate in a pot and delicious whipped cream!
By the way, the gal who walked out on me for talking with the guy she wanted- We made up! I sent her a sincere email of apology, and it's all good. Am very happy about that because I always love hanging out with her, and we have great conversations!
