I woke up to snow yesterday morning. It was sweet and not that cold, thankfully. I spent half of the day (Fri) at Burson-Marsteller, a worldwide leading PR agency. There were a bunch of speakers on different aspects of Public Relations and lots of good food, such as the potato salad and strawberry tart. I got to talk more extensively with a couple of fellow classmates so that was nice. My favorite speaker was the first one: A spry, passionate older man.
After that I headed to Forever 21 at Union Square and the downstairs garments were so different from the chic glamorous that are in the CA division. Upstairs there was a better selection though.
Made my way to Times Square to meet up with buddies to see Vantage Point. The entire story takes place around the same area and covers the span of maybe an hour, and the same event. It was very interesting because each time it was a different point of view. I liked seeing all the perspectives and how it ended.
Afterwards, D, A and I went to a little diner to grab some grub. I was glad we went there because it was well priced. I got the side of onion rings and tried some cheese fries and bread pudding. Discussion was pretty interesting, as we talked about the candidates this election, acting, "American Idol" and so on.
When I got back to Flushing, I finished watching Derailed which I enjoyed watching. It captured my attention pretty well and the whole ordeal was finally over for the main character.
I was out basically the whole day today as well. JX picked me up to get some dim sum (in Flushing) and we met up with L and other friends there as well. My tastes are very Americanized so I could only eat some of what we ordered-- shrimp dishes, xiao lon bao, fried tofu, sticky rice, yolk dessert. It was all pretty good and since there were six of us, didn't have to pay a lot at all.
JX and I went to a book event... Elizabeth F wrote Your Hidden Truth and she's a psychic. She began by going around the room and shaking hands with everyone. When she got to me, she held my hands for a few seconds longer and stared into my eyes. Unfortunately, she didn't get to my question or single me out to talk about me so I don't know what she saw! Darn it. Anyway, she started off telling us about herself, the book and then took some questions. It was pretty interesting stuff.
We then had to make our way to Manhattan to get to the Lincoln Center for the NYC Ballet. We had some time to spare so went to a nice deli called Breadsoul. I got the chicken pesto with tomato and mozzarella... It came all warm and crispy. Yum!
The ballet program tonight was called Matters of the Heart. It was pretty amazing. There were two stories and two just straight dancing. "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" is really endearing and cute. And "The Nightingale and the Rose" is tragic. Nightingale sacrifices her life for Love by making a red rose through singing and having her breast against a thorn... then the guy presents the rose to Professor's daughter and she accepts it, only to discard it when she doesn't like the smell and so the Nightingale basically died in vain. The last piece was just so beautiful, graceful, and fluid...
