The Sunset Test

I had a lovely day Saturday, going all over the place. Started off with a walk down by the Brooklyn Bridge, and kept going through the park, City Hall, Battery Park, World Trade Center area, and the oldest church in Manhattan (where rescue workers, etc slept during 9/11)Irish Memorial, a big mall, almost down to Wall Street and noticed all the different monuments. It was a nice way to start the day.

After that, headed to my friend's apartment for a potluck... It was kind of hard to find, so had to ask a police officer and heard the wrong address so he was like, "What is a nice girl like you doing visiting someone in prison?" Haha! Anyway, found MW's place and other people began arriving. Lots of delicious foods: Roast pork, bulgogi beef sushi, sweet potato, cucumbers, meat pies, as well as snacks and desserts: Little cupcakes, organic gumdrops, granola cookies, chocolates! It was good conversation, great to catch up and after eating we played some Apples to Apples. I ended up getting three green cards: "Delightful" "Unforgettable" and "Luxurious"-- Very good words indeed! Alas, I had to leave early to meet others to see the movie Push.

The subway station was close by, thankfully, which made it impossible to get lost. I met with M, S, T and a few others at the theater, and they were pretty cool for the most part. I actually really enjoyed watching Push, despite not so good reviews. The movie certainly lured me in, and made me think. (I would want to be a mover). I also really liked Nick, the main character-- Hot, with blue eyes! And of course Dakota Fanning was superb.

We went across the street to a bar, but didn't stay long. Instead we went to Little Italy for some dessert. What a great idea... I chose the cheesecake with brownie topping. It was so yummy and rich. After that, the group grew smaller and we headed to a nice pizzeria. We got the chicken, bacon toppings and they gave us a large pizza for the price of a medium! Good stuff.

Sunday I didn't do a whole lot. Used CareerNet to apply for summer internship opportunities, and babysitting jobs-- Would be a good way to get more money.

Then went out for the evening to Murphy & Gonzalez for the Oscar night dinner and party. It was mostly a good experience. I met a few new people, and ran into a bunch I already knew. The group that I hung out for the evening were cool at first-- We made sure to get the table that garnered us the best view of the TV. I love watching the Oscars, especially because Hugh Jackman was hosting. He is incredible! I didn't realize he was such a great singer and dancer. I thought the first few speeches were the most beautiful, and eye-tearing. And I was quite happy that I predicted a lot of the wins, except the shorts-- Didn't see any of those.

In addition to the great show, the food was delicious! I shared the Gonzalez platter with three other girls. We got chicken taquitos, beef empanadas, and quesidillas. And W let me have some fish and chips. W is a cool, fun guy. I also ordered dessert: Amazing apple pie, complete with ice cream and caramel sauce. Mmm!

However, the night didn't end well. I got upset when someone shushed me, and then after the person called me a "crazy bitch" I was even more pissed (of course) so I lost control, and yelled at him. After that I was calm, but didn't want to talk with anyone about what happened. Later, the blond man who had wanted to speak to me followed me down to the bathroom, which scared me because he seemed to be very hostile. When I went back to upstairs to tell my tablemates what happened, they told me to "Relax" and "let it go." Which royally pissed me off because it seemed like they didn't care. After that, the police came and asked me to leave (because the manager didn't want me there), but I didn't at first. By this time I was calm, and not making a lot of noise. And I just wanted to watch the end of the Oscars, but then one of the guys grabbed my camera and purse so I yelled at them, which didn't help matters.

Grrr! I just had soo much hatred toward some of the people at the table, the management, the police-- It seemed like no one understood me, cared about me, or wanted ot know my side of the story. So I was feeling incredibly vindictive-- Plotting to go back and trashing the restaurant, demanding my money back, making sure no one I know goes to Murphy & Gonzalez. But now I've gotten past that-- For the most part.

There is good news though. I actually am one of the winners of the Oscars Contest. I ended up getting 18 winners correct! Damn it, I should have participated in the money pool. I would be about $55 richer. Oh well. I will get either movie tickets or a gift certificate. Still really cool. I rock!
