After work and after learning that I landed the part-time Public Relations internship at eSHAVE, a company selling luxury European-style men's shaving products (though it's only for credit so if I happen to get the paid internship, I'm hella going for that!), I prepare for the Cinderella Ball at the local college. Long strapless deep maroon jewel-toned dress; vibrant pinky purple eyeshadow; long lashes; black flowered high heels.
ST and I head to Olive Garden for some dinner. I chose a Shirley Temple, the sausage and potato soup and baked parmesan encrusted tilapia with noodles and Italian vegetables. It was so good, especially the soup and edges of the fish.
Before heading to the ball we stop by the local mall and I stop at the sunglass kiosk. The lady picked out a mock Gucci tinted dark dark maroon with light pink and it actually looked good. Also matched my dress so decided to get it.
At the ball, there weren't too many outsiders... Mostly just the Alchemy Club members but as time went on, more people I knew showed up. It was great to see everyone and I got to meet some really sweet, fantastic people. Everyone was friendly, talkative, accepting and very inclusive. It was wonderful.
Though I was full from dinner, I tried a bit of the food they had which was pretty incredible. They had so much: Turkeys, ham, beef stew, mashed potato, crackers and cheese, fruit and vegetables. In terms of dessert there was a pound cake, chocolate fountain and four-tiered white cake surrounded by strawberries with raspberries in the middle and different fillings: White and Chocolate.
The decorations were great as well. Little shimmery peacocks, candles, medieval hangings, beautiful cloth covering the tables, the Queen and King's chairs, flowers, shiny bows and sparkling lights.
And of course the music was catchy, at times graceful and beautiful; at other moments rocking and foot stamping.
They even had a great little event planned where all the men search the entire place to find a little heeled glass slipper with a heart detail. The person who found it is crowned the Prince and the woman he chooses to dance with becomes the Princess.
It was quite hilarious watching all the guys running around all over the place, hectically attempting to find that darned shoe. After a very telling hint, it still took a few minutes but ST, the guy I came with, found the slipper!
Of course he chose me and we got to keep the glass slipper as well as the silvery gold tiara with dangly diamond drops. It's so elegant and princessy looking: Right up my alley.
So we shared a dance and throughout the night I danced with three different people and twirled, spun around and later on joined the masses in jumping around, free dancing to hip hop. They even played Shakira's "Hips Don't Lie" which is the song that really makes me shake it.
The dance was over at midnight and even though my feet were a bit sore, I had a positively lovely time. Seeing, talking with, joking and laughing with most everyone whether I knew them well or not. However, flirting was kept to a minimum as it seemed that a lot of the most eligible bachelors were taken, though I was still able to get some photographs with them as I took pictures with almost everyone. It was just a really warm, beautiful and twinkling evening.
