*living my dream life*

I realized that I lead a pretty pampered life... I live in one of the greatest cities in the world, attending one of the most expensive & well regarded universities in the world; I have a large network of great friends; it's not entirely necessary for me to have a paying job this summer (though certainly would be helpful); I have never had to pay for a taxi or drinks in a bar or club setting; my meals are paid for quite often; I get to go out quite a bit; I am constantly being told that I'm pretty, beautiful, gorgeous; have access to free or hugely discounted spa services, movie screenings, food, internet live shows etc and I usually get what (or who) I want.

Today was another rainy, dreary weather day. I got my haircut at Alfangi Salon on Fifth Avenue. I received a lovely glass of iced lemonaide, but I wasn't totally satisfied with the haircut and I couldn't tell until after she blowdried and styled it so was kind of too late to ask her to make changes. I had asked for a lot of layers (even brought in a picture) and the right side looks amazing but the other side is a bit sloppy, all over the place. Though I usually have the left side of my hair pulled behind my shoulder, and the right side for all to see, so it might be okay. Still.

After the haircut, headed down to West 4th. As I walked out of the subway station, this guy stops me saying I'm his type and telling me he's looking for someone to marry, wants me to move in with him! He then reached to hug me, and tried to kiss me on the lips (several times!) Crazy guy!

Anyway, I went to the NYU bookstore after to sell back some books for cash. I got about $30 for two books which isn't too bad.

I then met with S and learned he was vegetarian so we went to Red Bamboo. S is a really cool guy: A good listener, funny, interesting, smart-- All that good stuff! I got a Shirley Temple, sweet potato fries (were not crispy enough) and the lunch special: Teriyaki chicken and pork chops with apples and collared greens. Everything was really good, and I enjoyed S's vegetable tempura. That was so delicious that I would order it for myself next time...

After lunch, we stopped by a Starbucks for some more conversation. I got the hazelnut iced coffee with milk. Pretty good. So, had a nice time with S (and he paid for everything-- including the meal, which was really sweet) He's actually going to India in a week! Wow.

I then had to meet my practicum group to prepare for the presentation at the United Nations! On the way there, accidently skipped the 42nd St stop and was at Rockefeller Center, and who did I see? BD! It has been several months since I've seen him, so it was very cool to chat briefly. He mentioned we should hang out, which I would love to do-- He's a fun person to be around.

So, the meeting with the practicum group went well. We made some edits to the PowerPoint, then did a run through of the entire presentation. We pretty much have everything in order, and looks like we have done a great job.

We got done around 7:30 and the movie I was planning to see tonight, Easy Rider was at 7:50 so I wasn't sure if I would be able to get to the Film Forum in time. Thankfully, I got there in record time and the movie hadn't started when I arrived. Easy Rider is a classic open road type story and it's a total 60's acid trip with political, religious, sexual, life undertones. Complete with an awesome soundtrack. Groovy!

I met with F, D, K and M after. We went to Numero 28, which has Italian style pizza, pasta, and so on. The place was a little pricy so decided against getting anything. And I wanted to save my appetite for the gelato at Grom that we were going to have afterwards. I got the tiramisu gelato and strawberry sorbet. So freaking delicious!

Turned out to be a really full, and fun-filled day!
