Fun Times!
kitten-kissed on June 05, 2009 at 1:19 a.m.

So, I was all set to watch 17 Again with MG on Wednesday, but just as she was leaving work, her boss asked her to stay longer... Darn!

However, I had been invited to TP and MP's apartment on the upper west side for dinner and fellowship with other InterVarsity members. I had a great time there, and it was lovely to see everyone again. We had salad, really good ham, rice, and delicious sourdough bread. We talked about the funniest or most interesting way we injured ourselves-- Mine was the motorcycle accident (the time I was wearing miniskirt and heels, on a motorcycle: yes). There were some crazy stories!

We then broke into two different groups to pray and after that most people left except me and a few others because we wanted to play Scattegories. It's a really fun game, but I wasn't that great at it. The other times I've played, I've done it with a partner so never went at it alone. I did all right the last round, but the other times not the best. Oh well.

Today was enjoyable. I met with R at Roosevelt Island (which I got to very quickly) to meet her 15 month son to see if I could babysit. I liked both of them, and the boy is sooo adorable. He just stared at me for awhile, but was fine after a bit. R said she liked me and it seems I have the patience so will be starting next week. It's strange that in general I'm incredibly impatient, but around children I'm not like that...

I headed to the rooftop of the apartment building after the meeting, and absolutely loved the view! It was so beautiful, and I could see the nice patios that were attached to the Penthouse apartments. Wow, I wouldn't mind living there. I took a nap on the lounge chair on the rooftop then was on my way to meet with IM in midtown.

We got sandwiches from Cosi. I picked the chicken cesear sandwich with goat cheese spread... Was very good. I had a good time relating to IM Fleet Week stories, and about my trips to the Bronx zoo, Philly, the gay club strip joint-- He's interested in going too! I've already planned another outing not this coming weekend, but the next with CI and hopefully IM can come with soon!

Right after catching up with IM, I rushed downtown to go watch 17 Again because today was the last day it's playing and I didn't want it to slip away before I got a chance to see it. I used my AMC gift card, and also got Blue Raspberry slushee which was wonderfully cool and refreshing! The movie was cute. Not as great as I expected (because people kept telling me it's supposed to be really good) but it had its moments. And of course, Zac Efron was absolutely hot! I love his eyes-- They're such a gorgeous, gorgeous blue!

Had some time after that before needing to meet HV at the karaoke place. I just went to Duane Reade and read some magazines. My favorite being "Cosmopolitan" which always have really helpful, insightful and interesting articles.

Then, I headed to 20 Twenty not too far away. It was nice to see HV again. She's always a lot of fun. Met her friend, A then J came. We went inside and ordered some food... I got the steak and eggs with veggies and fries. There was a lot and was pretty good, though I liked A's swordfish better. Oh well. Later, a bunch of HV's relatives came to join us. They were cool.

20 Twenty was okay-- They would alternate between karaoke and playing songs. I definitely wanted more karaoke singing going on though. Most of the people who went up were pretty great singers, which I enjoyed. I went up with the girls toward the end, doing "Independent Woman" which I actually didn't know very well but I was able to follow along.

Also toward the end, SG finally got here. She's really cool. She invited us all to an event she's hosting (to promote her website) called "Glorious Sex Showcase"! Hell yea, I'm there! Anyway, she talked quite a bit and normally that would grate on my nerves but I didn't feel that way toward here.

20 Twenty closed early because there weren't many people there so we continued our conversation outside. Finally, we headed off to the subway. I walked with J and SG. We had a good time chatting while waiting for the train and so on. We got on the topic of the type of guy we're into, and good news: We all like different kinds of men. I'm always happy to learn that about my friends. Then, we discussed loans, grad school, jobs and so on.

I had a good night with everyone!
