Fun With Friends
kitten-kissed on January 05, 2008 at 6:34 p.m.

The other day my good friend from UC Santa Cruz came to visit me for a couple of days. The evening that she arrived, another sweet pal (M and one of her visiting friends) came by to drop off my birthday gift: A Japanese Cherry Blossom scented bath set in a cute straw-inspired tote bag. She also got me a tiny little orange kitty stuffed animal. I hadn't seen both of them in awhile so it was wonderful to chat, joke around, laugh and have a good time.

Even though it was rainy, windy and all around hellish weather (for California, you know) GS and I still went to downtown Monterey and to the new place: Vivi Couture and ViVi Coffeehouse attached to it. The clothes were chic and nicely made and the coffeehouse very modern in all black, clear and hot pink. I got the Tuxedo drink, which was dark and white chocolate together... So deliciously sweet!

We then headed to the Aquarium, where I had free passes thanks to the Library. I liked the playful otters, beautiful/ delicate and graceful jelly fishes and enjoyed the jellies exhibit, complete with different mediums of artwork and a mirrored walk-through.

After that GS and I went to the mall but since Del Monte Shopping Center is an outdoor-type of place, we just headed to the theater. We decided to watch the new horror movie, One Missed Call which is about a group of friends who get a call and when they listen to the "missed call" voicemail, they hear their own death. How creepy is that!

When we were back at my place at night, we had a nice dinner of shrimp tempura, little wrapped balls and rolls of flavorful shrimp etc. Afterwards we made fudge brownie and it was so thick, smooth and wonderfully chocolate-ly brown. Needless to say, it turned out very good.

GS left this morning and ST picked me up. We went to Kinko's first so I could get my hand-picked 12 pictures from photo shoots onto glossy paper. They came out looking lovely but later when I tried to put them in the binder I got, the glossies were too large and the print outs that ST gave me were a different size. Ack, it's not uniform! I'm just going to have to find another binder for the modeling portfolio. At least I've got a bunch of sweet photos.

After that we went to the California Pizza Kitchen and got both a pasta and pizza. Everything was pretty good, even the bread. We chose sausage penne and the garlic chicken pizza. I prefered the pasta as I felt the pizza didn't have enough flavor. Oh well.

We stopped by Ross on the way back to my house and I picked up a set of Valentine's Day candies: pink and red candy corn, cherry sours, cinnamon imperials, sprinkle gum and conversation hearts. A very good selection. I also found a cute journal with two kittens and roses on the cover.

When I got home, I went with my mom to the PX where there was much makeup and fragrances for a lesser price and I actually found Paris Hilton's "Heiress" but when I smelled it, it reeked of alcohol and a flower-y scent which was not at all what it should be. The little sample sizes smell much more feminine and sweet. Huh, anyway I got sour patch candy and Apricot Scrub for the face.

Later on I made some phonecalls to friends that I wanted to see or talk to before leaving for NY and I reached most of them which was great. I love that IS almost always answers his cell and since I'm going to Santa Cruz one last time on Monday (I'm going with M) we're going to meet up and I can probably find others to see as well.

Then, to my surprise I got through to SI (she's usually not around to pick up the phone) and we're going to spend time together tomorrow evening which should be a lot of fun. I always love girl talk with her. And I also caught up a bit with C, who is going to Brazil for a month pretty soon so it was good to catch her before she left as well.

My mom bought some very good eats when she went to the Commisary today. There are frozen krinkle fries, and my favorite: Cheesecake Diva which is just soo amazingly delectable and luscious... I can't wait to have some in a bit!
