Friday I met up with S and it was great to spend time with her and chat about what's been going on. She's a very good listener. We then saw Julie and Julia which was an excellent film. Totally captured my attention, and enjoyed every moment thoroughly. Makes me want to cook more and find that guy who will be there for me always.
I met with M at the International Photography Center early evening to go through the Avedon model photography exhibit which was amazing. Afterwards, got some pizza at Bella Vita, which was quite delicious.
Then headed downtown to meet some of her friends at karaoke. I liked them, and immediately got along with the guys-- S was really fun and his British friend was totally sweet with that beautiful accent. He was also gay, but enjoyed talking with him. I do miss Brits and the fact they are so much more gentlemanly and charming, and their sexy accents always make me melt. I remember when I lived in England, walking onto the dance floor and being told "You're lovely" and swept off my feet... American guys don't pick me up in quite the same way.
Saturday I met up with A and a bunch of his male friends for Mexican in Greenwich Village. The waiter was very cute, with blue eyes and a slight accent-- We found out he was Irish. Mmm. Anyway, the food was pretty darn good and lemonaide so refreshing!
Later in the day met up with S and we headed to 28th and Lex where there are a bunch of Indian restaurants. Decided to eat at Curry Leaf and got the mango lassi which was very orange but quite good. Also ordered a vegetable as well as a meat samosa and pistachio ice cream. Yum!
Then went to a rooftop party at Rare View not too far away. Ran into MG which was cool because haven't seen her in awhile. Caught up a little bit, then went on to talk with JF, K, T and after awhile met some new folks. Mostly guys. I took a liking to R because he was funny, easy to chat with, interested in me... He's also from California, a screenwriter but unfortunately leaving NY soon.
Still, I went back to talk with him after taking a short break (while S and MG joined the original group) so it was just us. Told me he can only do whirlwind romance because he's only here for a week longer. He carried my purse because it was hurting my shoulder, and tried to massage it. Also said he usually doesn't notice things, but I have nice hair and skin. And of course that I was pretty and all that...
Went back to where S was and met H, B and a couple of others who were hanging around the table. B was hilarious. Then the dimmed lights turned on, and the rooftop was closed. Was only a little past midnight, so I went with R and B to Moca, a classy nearby bar. On the walk there, R had his arm around me. Got me a drink and a bit of food, then took me to my subway station by way of cab. I'm glad he didn't try to get me to his apt...
Sunday was brunch day at Vintage. We were in the back outdoor garden area which was pretty nice. Everyone seemed cool, and fun. The service was spotty because they were under-staffed and the food came out in all different times. When I finally got mine, it was raisin pancakes instead of the chocolate chips one I ordered. So had to send it back, and finally got what I actually asked for-- It was delicious though. Really gooey chocolate. And of course my meal was comp'd.
Some of us were cool to hang out longer, so we went to a bar in Astoria. Got to chat with new people this time and took an immediate liking to TH, M and some others. We continued onto Astoria Bohemian Beer Garden which was not the best place so we didn't stay long. Walked the mile to Studio Square, a new beer garden and it was lovely. More upscale, nice, and great food- I got the pulled pork sandwich and fries. Had awesome conversations about relationships, dating, what we like in the opposite sex, stories about shaving, dressing up, and much more good stuff.
