The past few days I've been eating out, and eating well. Sunday I went kayaking for free on the Hudson at Pier 40. I was running a little bit late, but didn't get lost because I asked someone who was going to the same place so he walked me there. And S was still around, so we did the kayaking together (I didn't want to go out on my own) which was pretty fun. It was a decent workout too, though at times we just stopped paddling to rest and that was relaxing. Just paddled around and enjoyed the water and sun.
After kayaking, I went with S and I to Mamoun's, a falafel place that was supposed to be close by but the walk took awhile. S kept saying it was right there, but finally got there and it was great. I got the falafel sandwich and a large honeyed dessert with nuts on top and came out to under $5!
When we were done, S and I headed to Washington Square Park to sit by the fountain. I then rested on the grass, and later in the afternoon headed to FDR Drive and 23rd for the free BBQ. Before leaving Washington Sq, I heard some beautiful harmonies and went under the arch to watch this amazing a cappalla group-- 4 African American men who sang sweet love songs. I wanted to stay forever, but had to get to the BBQ.
When I arrived at the BBQ site, I was looking for JC but he was running late and I ran into W, D and a couple others in the line so I had a group to go in with. I got a hot dog and hamburger. We found a table with seats, and enjoyed our meal. It was pretty well made. JC finally came it was great to see him-- It had been awhile.
Then, when I was leaving I ran into J whom I haven't seen in a couple of months! It was good to re-connect and I may meet up with him at some point, but I'm fairly certain he wants to date me but I don't like him in that way...
Then, Sunday night I went to the Players Theater for church at the Awakening. It was different, interesting. A really creative, artist-y bunch. After the service, I OD'd on Nutter Butter cookies (they are sooo freaking delicious!) and had the pleasure of meeting a couple of people, including a cute dark haired guy, and a blue eyed boy from Northern Ireland-- Complete with the accent and everything...
Monday after my internship I headed to Taste of Times Square-- A food festival. There were eats from all different restaurants in the Times Sq area. I got a small chicken pot pie, hush puppies and sample of chocolate cheesecake for a total of $5!
Later that night was dinner at Smith's in the West Village with ON (and it wasn't awkward; he even said it was good to see me), A, C, and P. We got the special chicken dinner for 2, which only cost around $17.50 per person. There was so much food! Bread, salad, very good chicken with crispy skin and rosemary, polenta, green beans with onions/potato/mushroom and then very light chocolate caramel mousse with whipped cream!
After eating, I hung out with A and C some more. We just started walking, and came across Michael Keaton! I wanted to get a picture with him, but he walked away too fast. Damn it! Anyway, we continued onto the Washington Square Park fountain and hung out there awhile. I enjoyed talking to them about all sorts of things.
Then today I went to the Corner Bistro to meet with C, M, and the girls came later. I got a Bistro Burger (onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese, bacon) and fries -- It was all so good! Plus, inexpensive.
Had a good time with everyone, and then we took a short walk to the High Line, a new park pathway starting at Gansoovert St and leads to the Standard (new hotel, and it's a gorgeous building!) It's nice... There are tracks on both sides, view of the water on the left, and grass, plants all around.
D then took us to Ear Inn where it was motorcycle night. That was pretty cool-- There were bikes all lined up along the street. Didn't see anyone I just had to talk to though. Oh well. We sat at an inside table (since everyone else wanted to eat) and had a really lively conversation on stories about the opposite sex, relationships and the like. It was a really fun time.
