Hanging with Guys
kitten-kissed on July 12, 2009 at 1:55 a.m.

Friday afternoon I met L and a couple others at the Met to see Funny Face in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium-- It was nice in there. Before the movie, a very distinguished man interviewed Carmen, someone who has been modeling for 62 years. She's beautiful! And seemed really nice. After that, they showed the movie, starring Audrey Hepburn. She's sooo elegant and lovely! I thoroughly enjoyed Funny Face, about being discovered and being a model. It was very cute.

When the movie was over, went to the 2nd floor to check out the exhibit "Model as Muse" (made possibly by Marc Jacobs). It was wonderful. Such beautiful photographs, mannequins and clothing, colorful backgrounds, different eras and types of garments. Then before leaving to meet with A (a police officer I met early morning at Times Square) I checked out the Met's rooftop. It was nice-- Pretty view, and a continuous work of art of a tree with reaching branches. Very cool.

I took the M86 bus to Amsterdam Avenue then the M11 uptown to 135th to get to S's event, "Glorious Sex Showcase." Suprisingly, I got there fairly quickly-- It helped that there was no traffic. They had just started the talent acts when I arrived, so that was good timing. A took awhile to get to the place, but he did come and it was great to see him!

We went out to get something to eat during the intermission. He had driven, so that was nice and convenient. I was craving chicken so we went to Popeye's. I got fried chicken, cajun fries, iced tea. Really good! Anyway, had a lovely time chatting with A-- Learned more about life as a cop and told him some stories of mine. It was easy and fun to talk to him.

Back to the showcase, it was almost over but got to catch the last part. It was mostly poets, singers, skits, and a comedian.

A and I went downtown to visit his friends at Windfall, a bar that was not too busy. His friends were funny, and pretty nice. Especially the over the top, silly, theatrical gay one. He was a character. Also met a gal who was somewhat drunk so a little annoying but I listened to her for however long I could stand. Okay, okay, she wasn't that bad and she seemed to like me quite a bit. When A left to use to restroom, she asked what it was like to date a cop and mentioned that he seemed nice...

We stayed til around 2am, then headed up to the Bronx where another friend was. We didn't stay too long-- Just to get a drink and dance some. After that, A drove me home and he was able to find my place easily. Nice!

Saturday was pretty cool. Met up with GB, T, F, G and a bunch of others at a bar to socialize and chat then headed over the Last Rites Gallery. There were some crazy weird paintings that were kind of disgusting and hard to look at, but also some truly beautiful works of art. The gallery had a very dark ambiance-- Red, black, skeletons, coiled silver snakes, room bathed in cobwebbed red light, nice leather couches and large TV. Plus there were places to sit throughout, so that was cool.

After the gallery, I headed uptown to Empire Hotel rooftop to meet with P and RG. It was nice to see them both. And was able to catch up with RG then we joined P's conversation with the guys-- M and JB. We stayed awhile, then headed out for dinner. We ate at Ollie's, Asian cuisine and sat between the two guys. I got the Taiwanese noodles with egg, chicken, shrimp, etc.

At Empire, had chatted with both of them but especially with JB (who is a lawyer) so through a lot of dinner we continued chatting. At times, we'd talk as a whole table which was great as well.

After enjoying our fortune cookies (but not our fortunes), we went to a nearby Moroccon place. (Though RG left since she was very tired) It was a beautiful space: Going down the steps are rose petals and inside dimly lit, with candles and petals on the tables and comfy red cushions. Again, sat by JB and had a nice time chatting about food, restaurants, clubs, dating and so on.

By the time we left, it was raining so rushed to a nearby bar. We didn't stay there too long, and JB offered to pay for a cab but it would cost quite a bit since I'm so far so JB took a cab home with a stop at the nearest subway. I wanted to get his number since we had got along so well, but felt kind of awkward asking in a cab so we just exchanged business cards.

Will be hanging out at the High Line tomorrow-- New park in Chelsea. After that, meeting with RB. Will be great to catch up with him. Have a lot to tell him about!
