Full of Fun Weekend

I had a great time this past weekend!

Friday night I saw Pillowman in Astoria with AZ and RG. It was a nice little theater and good to see them both. The play was extremely dark, but quite funny, engaging, intelligent and well done. Definitely brilliant.

After the play, AZ confessed about the reason why he hasn't gotten back to me- Apparently he has no money. Still, with no money, one could certainly call and chat. He continued to say that RG is always telling me how smart I am and he wants to get together with me so we can sit and chat, and so that he can get to know me better. So, he will give me a call when he finds something free to do. I do want to hang out with him; I just don't want to have to wait ages for him to find something to do! For a set designer, etc he isn't all that resourceful, at least in this case...

I had to rush into Manhattan to meet my AW at Blvd, a club downtown. I was trying to get there before midnight for the free entry. Except that my friend was a little late as well.

So, we decided to go to Katra, just down the street to avoid paying an entry fee. Almost right as we walked in, met too handsome African Americans. They seemed cool, especially the one that liked AW. He was very good at including me though, and bought drinks for both of us. I made small talk with a couple of other guys during my time at Katra, and enjoyed the music very much.

I then left earlier than AW, but still took forever to get back to Flushing.

Saturday I went ice skating at the City Ice Pavillion (in Long Island City) with JW and friends. It's a lovely place, the ice was great- easy to skate on, with the rink on the rooftop and had a grand ol time, especially because it was free to skate that day! I made friends with J, and we skated together for awhile. Got to talk about our lives, and boys.

During the first break, we had some sustenance, which was also free. Fried chicken, chicken wings, skewered chicken and veggies, puff pastry with spinach, and fries! Oh, it was all soo good!

Continued skating after that. I enjoyed going trying to go fast and feeling the wind as I turned the corners. There was an ice show planned for mid-afternoon so we saw the figure skaters practicing in the middle. I spotted one tall, lean good looking skater but J kept telling me he's definitely gay- True, I'm sure.

The ice skating show was really nice though. I loved the first pair skaters- Their outfits were beautiful, as were their performance. Just soo well put together, and breathtaking. The others were pretty good as well.

We skated for about an hour longer after that and I noticed a good looking guy (masculine this time) and when I skated slowly by him, noticed that he had light blue eyes. Ahhh, sigh. In my excitement and haste to tell the girls about him, I accidentely fell! But he didn't see...

Around 4p, we prepared to leave. Walked with some people to the 7 train, and headed back into the ciry which took longer than planned because we had to take the train into Flushing (since they're all running express), get off at 61 then take a Manhattan-bound 7.

I was afraid I'd be late to the Guggenheim, but caught the Express green line immediately so made it right on time. Also, was able to find KL right away. Met P who is a very nice guy - Agreable and kind of cute! We had to wait in line until 5:45p when they opend up the museum for "Pay as you wish" night. I enjoyed some chocolate and vanilla soft serve on a cone while waiting- It was very yummy.

So, we took some pictures in the lobby when we first went in (the only place we're allowed to take photos). Guggenheim is really beautiful- It's the Kandinksy exhibit and all spiral walkup to the top. We made our way up and had a nice time checking out the art and learning about Kandinksy. I liked his earlier artwork, especially the one with the horse- It was glittery!

There were also some rooms with different artists' work which was nice. I loved Monet's dreamy depiction of Venice. So lovely! I also really loooved the very last installation- It's a pure gold beaded curtain in the middle of the room and though no photography was allowed, the guard said if she doesn't see it, she won't say anything so we got some good photos of the gold! And inside there was a gold foil square on the ground- Also very pretty.

Afterwards, we went to an Italian restaurant nearby, and met with other folks. They were all really nice, and fun to talk with. I wanted pasta, but didn't want to pay the price, so got a chicken parmigiana sandwich which was very good. Also tried the salmon, and french fries. Mmm!

I had to leave early to meet IA. It was great to see her, had really good conversation and walked to Haven, a dance spot I found out about online. Not a lot of people were dancing though. So, we kind of moved to the beat, and kept on conversing. Met some cuties, but they didn't stay to chat for long. Oh well.

We decided to check if there was another place to hang. We found a bar called Redemption which was kinda cool. A couple of cuties, and one in particular except both of us liked him. Didn't get to chat with him though, as he was too engrossed in conversation with his two male buddies. Spotted another group of guys, but they didn't really try to speak to us.

We called it quits after 1a, and decided next time we're going back to where the go go dancers are in the Lower East Side...

Sunday I had to babysit VF. She had fractured her foot recently- Poor thing! We played checkers (it had been awhile since I had played... She won) read a book about the Titanic, I listened to her play the piano, and then we played Rat a Tat Cat- A really fun game. I thought she was in the lead, but after tallying all the points, turned out I had won! Yay.

Her mom called after that, and I had to drop VF off at her mom's friend's place. It was quite far from Washington Square Park- Up at 106th St. It was really easy to get there though. And at least I got paid extra.

I met with SP afterwards, and it had been quite awhile since I last saw him so it was great to be able to hang out with him, chat, and laugh together. We went all the way down to Soho for a Moroccan, French, Mediterranean restaurant called L'Orange Bleue. It's a cute little place, and had lively African music playing.

I really liked the Moroccan tea (now I want to go out and buy some...) and my meal- Spicy chicken which came with french fries and Green salad. The chicken was extremely flavorful and delicious, the fries crispy and thin, and the salad went well with everything. A very good meal, and charming time with SP!
