Tuesday night I helped out at the INIMA Runway Show for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I arrived at the Kate Werble gallery early, and witnessed the controlled chaos of getting models ready in beautiful muted color palette of blue, silver, black and beige dresses and skirts; lace, tights, lining, sheer and stretchy material, draping and loveliness. Tousled hair in chic updos, long legs, platform heels wrapped in saran wrap, and soft makeup. And since I was prepping to work the guestlist and pouring champagn etc, I also got my hair done... it was half down, and half up in a pretty twist.
I started off with greeting press, industry professionals, friends of the designer and handing out drinks with N who seemed really cool. We had a good camaraderie. Then, went outside to check people in and let me tell you, there were some good looking men out there. One skinny lad with long black hair, really gorgeous deep eyes, dressed in black and leather, so not typically my type was so hot! His name was even hot- Blase. He was about to go in, but saw that it was so crowded so there was actually a better view from outside, so said to me "I'd rather stay out here with you."
The show was great. The models followed the music, they all looked amazing though most didn't really smile when they turned. Everything went as according to plan.
So after all that, was able to chill and mingle with the crowd. Everyone was pretty nice, and fun to chat with.
And now it's Thursday and had a really good day. I hung out with CM for much of the afternoon at his place in Brooklyn. He had downloaded The Ugly Truth with Katherine Heigl and Gerarld Butler. I'm glad I got to see it without paying for it in the theater, because it was cute but predictable. I definitely loooved the guy she first started dating-- He was incredibly good looking and perfect.
We took a break to stop by the store, walk a little, talk awhile then put in Step Brothers which was a realy weird and wacky movie. Was all right, pretty funny but wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Had a nice little nap though.
After the movie, we went to get something real to eat (previously had just been snacking on fruit, fresh popped kettle corn, bread, peanut butter) I had a orange creamsicle and shared a turkey hero sandwich with CM.
When done eating, headed back into Manhattan to AG's apartment- She is having a few people over for an end of the summer soiree. It was nice to see AG since it had been a few months. I was able to chat with her for awhile while she made pasta and prepared a great smelling sundried tomato pesto sauce. Had a good time recounting some of my crazy stories and she told me about her recent travels.
Some more people showed up; most I had met before and met T and P who are newly married. I liked both of them instantly. P was very charming and from Sweden, and T was really smart and cool. We had a great time conversating about all sorts of topics but as it got later, people slowly trickled out.
We had some chocolate cookies and cake with coffee and looked through some photos, watched a few short videos and then everyone had left except A and me. We chatted with AG about guys, dating, friends and all that. It was a good discussion.
Anyway, have a pretty much jampacked weekend coming up!
