Keeping Busy
kitten-kissed on July 02, 2008 at 6:05 a.m.

Monday after work I decided to do some shopping. There are some nice shops around the Puck Building, such as Aldo, Express, Forever 21, PRADA. I was in awe of some of the designs and a couple outfits looked okay on me, but opted against making any purchases.

DB called me and since we were both in Grenwich Village, met up. When he saw me, gathered me close in his arms and kissed me on the lips. Briefly. I know this makes me look bad-- The day after and I’m kissing some other guy. I knew that I couldn’t keep it up though, so even though DB would put his arm around me, interlock his fingers with mine and try to kiss me more, I was distant. We went to Red Mango, the best frozen yogurt place (the toppings I got: Strawberries, Ghiradelli chocolate and mochi-- tastes a bit like marshmallows) and caught up, joked around, and so on. Finally, I realized I really couldn’t have DB touching me in any way because I was still thinking about MS so much… So whatever was going on between DB and me, it’s over (I’ll still be friends with him, if he’s willing).

Tuesday was my second day at the NYU internship. Was pretty productive, as I drafted a communications assessment, got to know my co-workers better (learned that two of them are from CA as well!) and helped set up and do check in for the evening event, which came complete with wine, cheese, crackers, fruit. During the event, I got to spend quality time with two of my coworkers and we had some really good conversation. It turns out that all three of us just recently got broken up with. Crazy.

DM said that it sounds like my breakup came out of a Danielle Steele novel. I’m not sure about that, but I know it was one of the (bitter)sweetest, gentlest, most tender breakups I’ve ever had. I’m so glad that MS was sensitive enough to sit with me and discuss it for a couple of hours and help me through it.

Left the Puck Building around 8pm and headed to West 4th to meet up with FW. It was good to see him again and we ate at a little Mexican restaurant. It was decent, and I enjoyed my virgin strawberry daq. Afterwards, we walked a bit to figure out what to do. We didn’t have to go far to spot karaoke advertised at Wicked Willy’s. I am so thankful to FW to point it out… Had a splendid time dancing and singing along to almost every song. Even the ones I didn’t know. And most people were actually amazing singers!

Met a couple of guys as well. The first one who started a conversation with me was from Canada and he seemed nice, but disappeared after a bit. Which was fine by me. In the back of the bar, there was a nice dimly lit room with comfy black couches and met some Irish guys. Noticed a cute one and hearing a sexy accent, asked what his name was… Dave was sweet, putting his arm around me and telling me the story of how he and all his friends came to live in NY. He later asked what my name was again and then said, “I know it. It starts with an “S” and ends what a “Y.” I was like “What?” The word he was thinking of was ‘Sexy.’ Kinda cute. Haha. Dave leaned in to kiss me on the lips, and I pulled away-- He doesn’t get anything if he doesn’t know my name! After a bit though, he had to leave since his friends were. Gave me a kiss on the cheek to say goodbye. Aw

Returned to the dance floor, and got swept up in a conversation with a light blond haired, blue-eyed charmer. He didn’t really talk toe for long though. Didn’t matter, because I was making eyes with the boy on the stage. There were two, and both were friendly, hugging me but only danced with one of them-- The sandy haired, blue eyed one-- Nathan. We danced together to several songs: Close together, holding hands, swinging me, sexy movements. I took breaks though, because FW seemed to be not having quite as much fun so engaged him in conversation and (kinda) slow danced with him a couple of times. He even picked me up at one point, which I loved. However, was definitely a bit more interested in Nathan.

At the end of the night, I went back with no one: A conscious choice.

Wednesday I thought I was going to meet Kelly (LLR Consulting-- boutique fashion PR firm: My second internship) at the Soho House (around 14th St), but she called and told me it was for next week. That’s okay; it gives me time to unpack.

I needed sandals, because the gorgeous gold shoes I wore blistered the tops of my toes (not all of them, but a couple) so I needed something comfortable to walk in (and not sneakers). Payless had Club Montego Bay hot pink flip flops with diamond studded detail on the sides. Very hot and only set me back $15 or so.

Took a nap because I had been getting very little sleep, and when I awoke, I hightailed it out of Queens to go to Brooklyn to meet up with some friends. It took longer than I expected, but finally made it and found Empire-Fulton Park. It was beautiful. There was water lapping at the rocks, Pier 17 in the distance, both Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, a waterfall, and green green grass. We enjoyed Grimaldi’s pizza, took photos, walked around and just soaked up the sweet atmosphere and weather.

Got home at a decent hour and made some phone calls. Talked with a couple of people, an hour each then when D came back, he fixed up my new laptop (Toshiba, 2 duo processor, 3 GB, Centrino-- It’s pretty sweet and fast) so I could go online. I organized my desk so it looks fairly neat and have been chatting with good friends, listening to music, uploading photos, etc.

Will be going out again later tonight…
