My visit back to CA has been pretty swell. The past couple of days weather has been a sunny, sweet balmy temperature.
Yesterday night I spent time with SD and JB. It was great to catch up, lots of laughter and conversation. We enjoyed broccoli and white mac and cheese and watched Blind Dating about a blue-eyed blind hottie searching for live. It was all right. Afterwards, we headed to JB's so could all sleep on her big bed. It was pretty comfortable.
I went to downtown Monterey today. Met up with RR and were going to see Smart People but they weren't playing that because of technical difficulties. We just sat outside, chatted and saw My Blueberry Nights instead, featuring Jude Law, Norah Jones, Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman. It was very different, interesting... About a girl making a journey across the US, hoping to heal her broken heart and to find herself. Some parts were outlandish but overall not bad.
When it was over, we walked around for a bit. Lots of new stores: Trader Joes, Pharmaca (where I got Organic Italian Grape-scented shampoo and conditioner: Has Antioxidants and UV protection, which will be great for hot humid NY when I return), Peet's Coffee with an outdoor firepit and RG Burgers coming soon.
I then went to the Farmer's Market and sampled all kinds of fruit, bread, nuts and kettle corn. Mmm. I also ran into B and C and C looks so different, in a good way. It was cool to catch up a little bit. I visited with a couple more friends, and had a veggie samosa and Mango Lassi for dinner. I love Indian cuisine! When I get back to NYC, I'm gonna sample more ethnic food because right now I frequent diners/American style eateries. I gotta branch out.
Went home and MS called so it was good to hear his voice. He couldn't talk for very long though. This week has taken its toll on him because he's got finals and he's just been really wiped out from school and work. He warned me it'll be a couple of days that he calls next but I'll survive.
Made a few more phone calls. I'm trying to coordinate my trip to Santa Cruz. Really need to get a hold of M, as she is the one who commutes there daily so hopefully she'll return my call soon!
Later in the evening, SI and C came to visit. It was awesome to see them both and I feel comfortable sharing with them so we swapped fun stories. I'll be meeting up with SI (whom I'm closer to) tomorrow morning so can tell her more about how my life in NY was etc... Can't wait!
