My heart’s crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
You cut me open
And I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
This “Bleeding Love” song is one of my favorites. At least I’m not closed off from love, despite the pain.
Last night I went to China One, which is at the Lower East Side, on Avenue B. This is a spot I haven’t really explored before, but I liked what I saw. I’ll definitely have to walk through Alphabet City more… It’s certainly a happening neighborhood.
I chit chatted with a bunch of people. One guy was comparing me to another girl, and said that I was refreshing, open, and honest and like a pretty flower. Aw, that was cute! I then met a gal, J, and she seemed really fun, interesting and sweet. We had a lot to talk about and after a bit met a really nice guy: G who is blond hair and blue eyed, who grew up in Madrid, Spain. He only has a slight accent though.
After awhile we went to the bar and I ordered a Shirley Temple. Of course. We then headed to the next room, where it was less crowded and had a place to sit. G left us, so J and I had some time to girl talk, until another guy came to introduce himself. He was definitely interested in J, which I didn’t mind because I wouldn’t go for him. When I noticed that the red couch seats were available, J and I moved over there and it wasn’t roomy enough for the new guy so he went away as well. J had to go to the WC but I wasn’t left alone for long. This Asian guy came and laid down next to me, and we talked briefly but I was not interested so hurriedly left with J to go the other room. Haha.
So we were at the second room not even a minute until this guy starts to dance in my view and then I actually hit him on the forehead (accidentally!) because I thought he was making fun of my moves. He was cool about it though, and spun me around and then a couple of drinks came crashing down from the low table. Oops. Not my fault! Right?
Anyway, we introduced ourselves (and J was talking to one of his friends) and the conversation that ensued was definitely flirty. He (F) called me feisty, spikey and commented that my friend (J) is probably the nice one and I’m the naughty one who tries to act all innocent (Yea, that’s most likely true…) But he liked that about me. I found out that he’s from CA as well-- Santa Cruz and San Jose area, both not far from where I lived. He’s also a surfer, entrepreneur, actor etc.
So, J, me and the guys left to check out Piano (a bar) and as usual, felt great to walk the streets of Manhattan at night. So, F took hold of my hand off and on as we were leaving China One and walking around Alphabet City. Also met his sweet friend, P… He noticed me biting my nails and said “You’re too pretty to be doing that.” Agh. I know I have to stop! At Piano, F introduced me to a new game and I ended up giving him a half kiss.
We didn’t stay at Piano (upper floor) for long and F parted ways with me saying he’ll message me to check the tides, and if they’re good we’re going to the beach tomorrow. So, J and I went to lo ok for a place to eat. We picked out a Cambodian noodle bar. She got the cured duck, which I hated. I picked catfish crepe and that was delicious-- especially the sauce that accompanied it.
When done eating, talking about past dating experiences etc, F wanted to meet up at St. Marks, so J and I got a cab and she had the taxi drop me off on the way. It was good to see F… He is such a jokester, but I liked that about him-- Made me laugh a lot, which is always fun. We went ring shopping then headed to Midtown in a cab (because the subway station was closed) and he was holding me most of the ride. He told me he thinks riding in a cab is one of the most romantic things to do in NY. I asked him why and he replied, “Let me show you.” He leaned in and kissed me again… It was a light, gentle, soft and short kiss. Unfortunately, it didn’t blow me away. In fact, it didn’t blow me at all… Wasn’t feeling it. Oh well.
I got to see his apartment and he actually said, “You can’t spend the night because I’m not that kind of guy.” Hmph, what makes him think I’m that kind of girl? Wait, don’t answer that… Anyway, got to meet his adorable 1-year old black puppy named Allegra. She was totally hyper crazy but very cute and lovable. We took her on a walk and it was cool to just talk for awhile. Stopped by a bar (with the dog, yes) and I got another Shirley Temple: Delicious. While there, F asked me for my story and "What else do you have going for you, besides your looks?" What am I supposed to say to that... I can't talk myself up!
After that we parted ways and we found out we don’t match in the way we communicate. He likes texts while I prefer calls so we’re going to have to compromise. I don’t really see myself being with this guy but I’d like to keep him as a friend, because you can never have too many of those.
Anyway, I'm about to go out to meet with a male friend in a bit. We're going to catch a movie and probably see some fireworks... I think the best ones will be by Macy's?
