More Shopping in China

So, I've continued to go out with relatives and have acquired more stuff. A few days ago, my mom and I were on the way to the subway station to go meet a friend of ours and we stopped by the huge Xinhua Bookstore. I picked out Henry James's Portrait of a Lady, a 2-CD set of romantic songs ("Rush Rush" by Paula Abdul "Wake Me Up Before You Go" are on it!) and lastly, the full set of "F*R*I*E*N*D*S", from season 1-10 and in total was about 16 USD... How amazing is that!

We had a lovely meal with the friend and she bought me a pretty necklace that I picked out. Gold circle with ripple detail, a tiny heart in the middle and silvery glittery stone dangling in front. Gorgeous.

I spent time with my cousin Zhen Zhen and her boyfriend last night and she actually found a necklace that I've been looking for... It's 2 sparkly red cherries with a little green leaf coming off the stems. So very nice. Anyway, we went to Qi Yi Wen's so I could get my hair cut a little-- Again. The same guy cut it and he's really good so am happy with the result. Although he didn't cut much, the layers are more pronounced long and Zhen Zhen's boyfriend complimented me. I really do like my hair... It helps that people keep saying good things about it too.

It has been a wonderful fun day. Da Wei (one of my cousisn) and his wife picked me up by the subway station of where I was staying and we went to the Bund, where there were tons of clothing places, jewelry, makeup, perfume, etc. I bought myself a page of glittery fake tattoos-- Butterflies, hearts, swirls and so on.

We were searching for a nice outfit for me to get before leaving China and there was one shop that had many pretty dresses to choose from. The lady who was helping me complimented me on my taste and was really sweet. She pointed out the parts of me that were thin and said I wasn't fat (though people in China seem to think I am)... I just have a stomach. I picked out a sleeveless dress with a silky light pink airy top and tight black skirt bottom. Came with a classic shiny black belt and when I tried it on, it fit just right so decided to just wear that for the day. Price of the dress? At first they quoted 400 RMB then bargained it all the way down to 100 RMB (14 USD)! WOW!

Afterwards, we went on to the streets to find a place to eat. Since I'll be having dinner with many family members at a ncie restaurant, I opted for something that wouldn't be too filling or fattening... So, we had soup. Not bad.

When done with lunch, we went to a different place to look at DVD's and CD's. I found a DVD set that has 2008 Oscar movies in it, including No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood, Juno, Once and about 14 other films... All for about 2 USD. It amazes to no end me how cheap things come out to be in China. Also found a few great CD's: Shania Twain, Grammy songs and some "Now" series CDs, which are *all* so great!

After our shopping for the day, Da Wei/his wife and I took a taxi to Bei Bei's (another cousin)... We'll all be having dinner together in a little bit.

I can't believe I'll be leaving so soon-- On Monday, but I also really can't wait to see MS again and really talk to him. Also, will have a New York summer (how exciting is that, she squeals!): Planning trips to DC, Philly, NJ to visit friends, hopefully Boston; movies, yacht getaways, game nights, shopping, visiting parks/zoos, club/dance nights, gallavating around with friends, and all that jazz.
