I've had some delicious food in the past few days.
Monday after my internship went to Bryant Park for a 4-hour picnic with CS, S, A, C and a few others in the grass with the intention of seeing Kramer vs. Kramer, the outdoor movie starting around 9p. It was great fun. We had lovely conversation, played some Blackjack and Truth or Dare. Enjoyed cheese, salami, crackers, cherries, grapes, chips with great spinach dip, pesto pasta, white chocolate, strawberry cheesecake... Mmm!
Kramer vs. Kramer, the movie itself was excellent. It won 5 Academy Awards, starring Dustin Hoffmann and Meryl Streep, plus a too adorable little boy! I was riveted throughout, and it was very touching.
Tuesday I went home early because got these really painful cramps. After resting awhile, I headed back into the city to meet with RB. It was nice to see him (always is)-- He's such a fun guy! And easy to laugh with.
I was craving Red Mango, so we went there-- Delicious and fresh. I got the tangomonium with original swirl and mochi, strawberry, mango. It was pretty filling, but then had some Micky D fries and nuggets. Also met his friend T who was cool-- We had a good time chatting and joking around.
Wednesday morning I called JF back. He's an entertainment publicist, and has clients who are actors, musicians, authors and sometimes restaurants and special events. He works independently, and has been getting super busy so needs an assistant. He wants 4 days a week, but that's a bit much. I think I can get it down to 3 days a week. He told me what the intern position would entail, and the perks: Lunch is paid for, and after a month if all goes well, I'll get a stipend. I'm meeting with him next week to see if it's something I'd like to do...
Then, I hosted Restaurant Week dinner at Telepan in the Upper West Side. It was all gals, but turned out splendidly. I liked them all, and we had interesting and enjoyable conversation. Everyone was really nice. We talked about movies, baking, experiences at other restaurants, told stories, etc. And now I know where I want to have my birthday dinner (hint: It's featured in "Gossip Girl"). Also, will be saving my coins for Per Se (super expensive restaurant, but apparently worth it so it may take forever, but maybe I'll meet someone who takes me before then!)
And I loooved Telepan... The waiter was attentive and accommodating, and the food was soo amazing-- Seasoned well, perfectly cooked, everything! Started off with an amuse-bouche, a little piece of warm pizza, some beets and an orange, red, yellow medly mishmash which was all right. Then, bread.
As for the meal itself... For my 1st course: Bucatini with cherry tomatoes amatriciana-style, house-cured pork, red onion & garlic. Oh My Gosh, it was soo damn good! It all went together so well, and perfect size. 2nd course: I chose the haddock which came with
crispy gnocchi, wild spinach, mushrooms & mushroom glaze. The haddock was delectable-- Crispy, and very tender delicious! Then, dessert: S'mores, which was practically orgasmic. Graham cracker ice cream (the likeness was amazing-- So well made!) on top of melty sticky marshmallow with brownie underneath, and circles of dark chocolate sauce and marshmallow fluff... Mmmmmmmmmmmm
