*living my dream life*
Night in Brooklyn
kitten-kissed on July 18, 2008 at 7:15 p.m.

So, I walked out of the apartment with my new gorgeous filmy light turquoise dress, all glam and glittered up in black sparkly bow high heels (that I can walk easily in) and this guy right outside asks for me to stop. He introduces himself, and says that I look very nice, kisses me on the cheek and lets me go on my way.

I made my way to Brooklyn for Flynn’s birthday bash and found the place pretty easily. Met up with RS and we went to the venue together. Once there, met the birthday boy and a few others that I didn’t really talk to very much, except MG and we bonded over gelato because I had RS come with me to the nearby store to get some cartons of Ciao Bella-- Dulce de Leche (my favorite), Strawberry, Chocolate and Hazelnut. It was delightful and of course I shared with anyone who wanted some.

Hung out with guys the whole night. M came, but he didn’t have a whole lot of time to sit and talk so I hung out with RS and met RZ who seems pretty cool. Then I spotted DU so was set for the rest of the night. I didn’t really talk to the friends he brought with him until he mentioned that they are both from CA so I started talking with C (his flat mate) who is really awesome. He’s totally the gothy type, who I normally don’t associate with but he was really easy to talk to. He’s a graphic designer who got tired of SF so just recently moved to NY. That’s pretty fucking sweet. And he surprised me with the things he’s interested in… Surprised me in a good way.

C and I went nearby to get some grub. Pizza, what else are we gonna get… It’s NY! I got pepperoni and some Totally Awesome grape soda. He paid. It was fun being around him. We went back and everyone was seated in the bar area, which was good because there was AC. After a bit they needed to smoke so I went with (did not smoke, but sniffed the clove cigs… They’re addictive smelling!) C actually said to me, “You do have an addictive personality.” Aw.

At one point, M came out and he had me sit on his lap, which is very comfortable. I asked him about C, and M said “I think he’s spoken for.”
Me: “What?”
M: “I think I saw him hanging out with a girl.”
Me: I looked at him, “I hang out with guys all the time; they’re not all my boyfriends.”
M: “Are you sure about that.”
Yes. Crazy.

So we stuck around for awhile more, then DU, C and I decided we were done. I went back with them to their place… We had a ball of a time in the taxi ride there. Haha. These guys are great! Their place was really nice. It was so comfortable. Sat on the couch with C and we were trying to get Battle Royale (Japanese film) to work on the TV screen so C had some hacking to figure out. He got it to work, but there were no subtitles. We still watched it, and didn’t really get why some things were happening and DU went to bed halfway… Not before saying he would take me to the subway station in the morning though. Nice.

C and I continued watching-- Kind of. He laid down on the couch, putting his legs in my lap and then we shifted around so that I could lay down as well. Laid my head on his body and we both fell asleep and woke up at the same time, to catch the very end of the movie. I shifted again, and he put his arm around my shoulder, gently stroking my shoulder etc for a bit. It was nice. When the movie was finished, he covered me with a blanket and went to bed (in his room).

Woke up fairly early at 10AM and as promised, DU woke up and walked me to the station. I learned he’s a film editor. That’s awesome. I love artists. I went to Chelsea Piers-- when I first got to 23rd St I was down at like 6th Ave. Grrr, because the Piers are at 11th and I hate, abhor, detest Avenue blocks-- They are soo freaking long! I found the Crosstown bus that can take directly there, but had to run to catch it.

Found the Ice Rink and met with M, L, and S to go skating for the afternoon. I probably skated for 2.5 hours, in my dress and M’s windbreaker. I have only skated once before and that was when I was still an undergrad, so that was awhile ago so at first I skated with S and we held hands for balance and talked. That was good practice. The rest of the times I was on my own and when I wasn’t yelping or screaming, I did well. I fell a few times and my dress got soaked, but it looks good wet so wasn’t a big deal. Anyway, there were times when I was just skating and coasting and that felt so good. A little girl started talking to me, asking me how often I’ve skated and she pronounced me “good.” Aw! What I loved about the Ice Rink at Chelsea was that they played amazing music-- It’s like they took a page out of my life soundtrack. Lots of club songs too! Sweet!

Afterwards, I went with L to get something to eat. Decided on Burritoville: Jamaican Jerk Chicken and some Blackberry Lemonaide. Yum! Took it to go and we ate at Jamba Juice… It was cool to chat with L. She’s a really nice person.

So tonight I am going to Sin Sin Leopard Lounge which should prove to be good, I think.
