You should be with a guy who knows what he has when he has you. ~ Ross Gellar
I've been having a good time the past couple of days, and am almost done with the semester! So looking forward to perfect weather, and summer vacation! I'll be going back to California the day after my UN group presentation for about two weeks, then returning to New York City in time for Fleet Week! Watch out sailors...
So, Thursday evening I had my Nonprofit final. It was a little harder than the other quizzes in that class, but I knew most except for one question. I finished early, and headed up to meet with BM. As usual, it was wonderful to see him. BG was there (as usual) but he left us alone to catch up so that was nice. I enjoyed just sitting there on the couch with BM and telling him about my classes, what I've been up to, plans for summer. And hearing about his work with a real person (instead of a corporation) for a change, volunteering with kids, what he's been up to. Just simple, lovely conversation. Plus, he feeds me.
So, BM, BG and I headed down to Greenhouse. It wasn't open when we first got there, so we headed across the street to City Winery, which was a really nice spacious place and they had pretty live music. Was a really cool place to kind of relax for a bit. Back at Greenhouse there was a line but when we got up there, the doorman didn't know about the party or the promoter we told him about. We tried to explain it to him, but it didn't work. Damn it! Will have to go another time.
We decided to walk for awhile, and try to find a nice bar but we bypassed many streets because it was all dive bars. We finally got to Little 12th and went into a non-descript bar with two rooms, dancing and couches. We hung out there for a bit, then headed over to Hotel Gansoovert. It's beautiful in there. I love the outside, because it's all hot pink! We went up to the penthouse, and found a nice spot to sit in the outer area. Really nice view of the Hudson, and the huge new hotel-- The Standard. It's supposed to be the hotspot this summer.
Anyway, had some more drinks, and chatted awhile. I found out that BG may move to SF for a job, and gotta tell you-- Wasn't upset to hear about that. It would be nice to have BM to myself a little more...
Then we got into this ridiculous conversation about how BM was at Disneyworld when he was 21 and met Walt Disney (impossible; he died at 1977) so then it was Disney's son (also impossible as he only had a daughter) and finally it was really Michael Eisner, the CEO of Disney. As BG said, "Get your story straight before you start lying." Quite hilarious.
After that, I was mid sentence then this guy (blond hair, blue eyes) pointed at me and said he knew me. I realized it was S, who was in my Research class last semester. He came over to chat for a bit. It was good to see him again. He seems to be doing well-- Started some companies apparently. Later BM asked if I had hooked up with him because he seemed to know me pretty well. Rolls eyes.
When we were done with our drinks, BM, BG and I cabbed it to Mr. West, a new place in Chelsea because TR was there and it was supposed to be hopping with good looking guys and girls. TR was already outside when we got there, so we thought we'd have no problem getting in but they weren't letting anymore guys in. That was pretty annoying I must say. Anyway, we just cabbed it back to their apartment. Oh well. We didn't get anywhere that we wanted, but it still turned out all right, I thought. Might get to see BM this Sunday. We'll see.
Strangely, I felt myself liking him less and less (kind of) throughout the evening because I finally admitted to myself he's not gonna change his opinion of me, he's not going to try to make time for just us, and he's really not worth it. That said, I still think about him...
Friday was good fun as well. I went to HKSA's Sensations dinner and performance event. Met some new guys, had good food like dumplings, fish balls, flat noodles, fried rice, chicken, egg custard, red bean jello, milk tea! There was a skit that took place on Temple Street in Hong Kong. Also, a bunch of singers, and the last act was a full on band that was pretty cool.
I headed to 230 Fifth (my favorite rooftop!) to meet with MG. She was late, which was truly annoying, but it was great to see her. I always love hanging out with her, because she's an awesome listener and she remembers key factors from previous conversations so I can pick up where I left off. I found out she was at Hotel Gansoovert last night as well which would've been perfect if we had just ran into each other, because then she could've met BM! Oh well... Filled her in about the whole BM thing, nights out, meeting guys, and all that good stuff. It's cool because I think we really understand each other.
We were interrupted a bunch of times by guys who came over to talk wtih us. It was fine for the most part. I liked P, the first person who started a conversation with us. He was cute and did a very good job of giving us equal attention. He guessed incorrectly that we were teachers so we set the record straight. He works in finance, like MG. So they had that connection right off the bat and P wanted to find something in common with me, and we did when we found out MG smokes and we both don't smoke so he said he was on my side now. Hah!
So, P came back a bunch of times, and introduced us to a couple of his friends. He asked me what place I would most want to go. The answer is Greece, and he told me he went last summer. Ooh, it sounds so wonderful! When he found out I was Chinese, he said we'll go to Shanghai together on his jet. He also called me the observant, smarter one because I guessed his age correctly. And apparently I'm Charlotte (from "Sex and the City"), while MG is Carrie. I've always liked Carrie; I think I'm a mix between her and Charlotte.
There were a couple of other guys who came over but I wasn't into any of them. After MG and I finished catching up, we went downstairs to the lounge-y dance area. It was fun, and the music was definitely better. I was making eyes with the tall, sandy haired guy next to me. He told me I was cute, but this other guy whisked me away first, spinning me around. I wasn't into him though. A little later, I started dancing with the tall one and we chatted briefly. Couldn't really hear much though.
MG and I left together around 3a. We have plans to go out during Fleetweek, and have come up with a cute idea. Since I have my new white dress, I'll wear that and MG has a red dress. The two other girls (whoever we deem cool enough to accompany us), will have to wear either a solid blue, or black dress. Can't wait!
