Such Great Times!

Had a pretty great past few days. Saturday I went out to see the Soloist and got a large popcorn for $2! The movie was great, and captured my attention from start to finish. Afterwards, we went to eat at Havana Central. I got smoked chorizo (sausage) with potato and caramelized onion. It was quite good.

After eating, I headed uptown to meet with MH and friends at CTR to see Atomic, an 80's cover band. I met a couple of new people there, and remained dancing the entire time. The first set was awesome, as I knew msot of the songs and they played "Jessie's Girl" before I requested it. I talked with Steve, the lead singer during the break and he said that the second set is dedicated to me!

M and I stayed til the end, then we decided to walk around Times Square for a bit. I was craving something cold, so got an ice cream sundae with strawberry and hot fudge from Micky D's.

Then, we were caught in the middle of a two-block high profile police chase-- We kept seeing police officers running along 7th Ave and the cars blinking, and wailing against traffic. We saw a girl get handcuffed, and after that, everyone on the street starting to run out of the way which we were confused about until we witnessed the crazy, feral police dog straining to get free from his leash... I ran into Dave & Buster's for safety. And then, more than a dozen on police officers escorting people down the escalators. What the hell happened!

Sunday was a chill day, and quite warm-- Bordering on hot. Had brunch at Il Bastardo in Chelsea, and met two Brits who were very cool. They're also lawyers-- Why do I keep meeting lawyers? Anyway, hanging out with them made me realize how much I miss having British friends. So I divided my attention between them and a guy who works at Food Network. I ordered the grilled chicken panini with salad, and it was definitely better than any of the breakfast dishes on the menu.

Later on Sunday I met with SP, whom I haven't really had a chance to talk to in awhile so it was good to spend some time with him. We ate at a great vegetarian restaurant, Red Bamboo. I got a Shirley Temple, fried chicken and roti with potato and chicken curry sauce. Delicious! Afterwards, we hung out and just relaxed awhile at Washington Square Park. Then was RS's performance at the nearby theater. It was a really strange play with much musical elements, that I didn't quite get, but was certainly interesting. Not really my cup of tea though. A bit too weird for my tastes.

Another pretty spring day this Tuesday, though rumor has it that it's going to rain soon. I enjoyed free lunch at the Commuter Appreciation event. I ran into E, so sat with him and had a nice time catching up a little. The food was decent: Salad, pasta, bread, chicken and rice, salmon, and some amazing apple pie!

I spent the afternoon working on a PowerPoint Presentation for my Nonprofit class. The topic is the Communication Plan I came up for the ASPCA, and I'm feeling good about it. I found an adorable photo of a puppy on top of a globe for the cover, and have used the same colors from the ASPCA website: White, orange and grey. I think the presentation looks clean, professional and all that good stuff.

Headed into Brooklyn for dinner at Noodle Pudding, with JN, B, A, K and one other guy. It was really nice, close by to Manhattan, and not far from the Promenade. We had bread, calamari as appetizers and I ordered the half chicken (organic) with potato, leeks and pancetta. So damn good! And we shared desserts: Hazelnut tort cake with hazelnut gelato (mmm!), fruit tart with blackberries and raspberries, tiramisu. It was all very delightful.

Took a stroll along the Promenade (with JN and B) after eating. It was such a beautiful night, with light breezes and the view was just stunning. That skyline, the bridge, the inky water, the piers in the distance. Such a romantic place, as most waterfronts are...

And now gearing up to watch "Gossip Girl"!
