Woke up early Friday morning to carpool with M to Santa Cruz. It was great to spend some time with hear and catch up. I arrived at Santa Cruz before I needed to meet GC so I just walked around in the warm sun, did some reading then met with her at Kresge.
We (GC and I) ate at the Owl's Nest. I got teriyaki chicken and we shared curly fries and onion rings. It was all very good, but way too much food. Afterwards, we enjoyed a strawberry ice pop and headed to Porter Lounge-- Comfortable couches and air conditioned. It was very nice to spend time with GC... She had to get to class so I had some time to kill. Spoke with a few people on the phone, including MS (his every 3 days actually means every other day...lol) and lounged around under the shade at Porter.
Met up with DM and it was so awesome to hang out with her. We always have a lot to talk about and she's a really good listener. We headed downtown and ate dessert first at Foster Freeze. I got the Caramel Vanilla Fudge parfait-- Amazing! Then ate at Saturn Cafe. I got the veggie corn dogs. Not bad.
After eating, went back to campus to catch Cloud 9 and special guests for an a cappalla concert. While waiting in line, ran into AR. It's always great to see him-- Mad refreshing to talk to... An all around good guy. Anyway, the concert was wonderful-- Love all the harmony and solo voices. They sang "Jessie's Girl," Aaliyah, Weezer and much more. The other group I liked was from UC Berkeley called Decaydance and one of the main singers was gorgeous-- dark hair and blue eyes and this lovely soulful voice. Toward the end of the show, Cloud 9 was singing "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and the fire alarm went off: Sound and lights flashing but they kept singing and we started clapping to drown out the sound. It was pretty sweet. The fire dept finally turned it off so they could complete the show.
After the concert, DM and I headed back downtown. We stopped at Badd Ass Coffee where I ordered a frappy but since it was too costly, decided against it but the guy was still going to give me the drink. Whatever. I just had Cherry Garcia wrapped in a dark chocolate shell and later worked it off.
First stop was the Red Room, which is just a nice place to chill and enjoy soft couches. After a bit, we headed to Rosie's for some dancing! It was great. Tons of people, and excellent music: Top 40, hip hop, oldies and lots of remixes. Only annoying part was when guys would try to dance with us and we clearly did not want to deal with that, so we'd move away, close the circle etc but they didn't get the hint. One guy got pretty close to me; thank goodness DM dragged me away. She also complimented me on my dancing which was really cool to hear.
After awhile, we left and started the walk back to her place. It was a really nice out and not too cold so it was a lovely journey. We ended up sleeping pretty late, but I'm used to that.
Saturday morning I went downtown to meet with GS. Chatted a bunch, then went to Tacqueria and ran into KA! I had been trying to get a hold of her so it was cool to see her there and I ended up hanging out with both for a few hours.
In late afternoon I went to MultiCultural Festival to meet up with a few friends. I saw a bunch of people I had known from before, so it was cool to talk with them a little. Ended up spending the rest of the day with LT and SO (even though I didn't know SO well, we had so much to talk about so that was awesome) We all had a good time: Walked the dogs, raided the kitchen (all organic, healthy food so that was good), long conversations, watched part of Gone With the Wind.
Sunday morning I went to High St Community Church and I know a lot of people that go there so was nice. Really great songs and message. I had lunch with MK, LK, D, S, RC etc ... Very yummy: Lentil and potatoes, chutney, rice, salad, garlic bread and brownies with sprinkles.
I hung out with GC, DFL, MK and LK after all that. We just sat around, hung out, played a couple of games then met up with a bunch of others and I learned a new game called Telephone Pictionary. It was incredibly fun and hilarious!
Before too long though I had to leave to meet up with IS downtown. Walked there because it wasn't too far and it was great to see him. We wandered around a little then decided to eat at Kianti's, a pizza and pasta bar. We ate outside-- very nice place. I got the shrimp pasta with veggies and garlic cream sauce. Mmm.
We walked to his place after that and I just chilled on his bed til our friend picked us up to go to campus for the International Playhouse. There were 5 plays, all in foreign languages (there were subtitles up above) and it was all very interesting. The French one was a scene from the Hypochondriac and was very witty. The Russian one was a musical about revolution and Communism. All of them were decent.
Afterwards, just went back with IS and we just watched some TV, talked etc.
This morning I had to meet with M and we wanted to see Iron Man but the stupid theater downtown doesn't even open til 1pm. Oh well, we just had sandwiches from an Italian Delicatessen called Zoccoli's for lunch. It was all right. Stopped by Jamba after and I chose a Peach flavor since I had never tried it. I'll stick to my strawberries and razzmatazz's from now on.
So now I'm back home and saving everything I want to keep from my laptop. We're giving it to relatives in China and I'll have to buy a new one before going back to NY. We're leaving for Shanghai in a few days so gotta get everything ready...
