*living my dream life*
Social Weekend

Yesterday I met up with a childhood friend of mine, AZ and her boyfriend at 34th St- Herald Square. I hadn't seen her for over ten years so I'm glad we had a chance to meet up and I'll visit her in DC at some point. We decided to go to Union Square for lunch because I had seen a restaurant called Chocolate by Max Brenner and had heard good things. It was wicked cool inside and I got an omelet with home fries and toast that came with pure melted chocolate sauce. That was so good and fondue-y. For dessert, I picked a peanut butter chocolate concoction that I saved for later.

We decided to go to Karaoke One next and got a room to ourselves. AZ and her boy were not shy about singing but I was more reserved. I did sing backup though and enjoyed singing "Summer Nights" from Grease. After awhile, we sampled our desserts and AZ had gotten the chocolate pizza -- it's also got candied pecans and tons of marshmallows on top-- lightly toasted. It was wonderful!

After they left, I went back to Queens and made some phone calls. It was good catching up with some of my friends.

This morning I attended the 11:15 service at 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church (on W. 55th St) It was actually really easy to find and didn't take as long as I thought it would so that was pretty sweet. The music's traditional but the choir sounded amazing and I liked the pastor and his message.

Following the service I went to the discussion on relationships, intimacy, love myths and sex by an older couple. I grabbed some glazed donut holes then found my seat. It was pretty interesting. The couple was really candid and funny and they do this every week so that's great.

I introduced myself to the pastor and it was nice talking to him. He's a stand up fellow and I guess I'll ask about helping out with toddlers next time. I then met J and he invited me to have lunch with him and others so I took him up on that.

We ate at a place called Cassandra's and I got the open top grilled cheese sandwich with fries because it was under $10. However, it wasn't that good. They used Kraft singles, and the fries were too fat and not crispy enough. If they had just used a George Foreman grill, better cheese and actually grilled the sandwich it would've been so much better. Nothing there seemed to be that good, except the onion soup.

Anyway I met a bunch of people and they all seemed to be a sweet group. Also, I got the numbers of a couple of girls who I had barely talked to because they wanted to see 27 Dresses and that was something I'd consider watching.

I found my way to Union Square next to meet with AI. We didn't really hang out while we were at UC Santa Cruz together but it was lovely to see her and she's a lot of fun to be around. I really enjoyed talking with her about boys, past relations and so on.

We went to Williamsburg in Brooklyn and just like they say, it's really hipster and there were a bunch of cutesy shops as well. It was a bit expensive though. We ate at Black Betty and I got the lamb burger which came with a salad and curried potato. It was all decent, especially the potatoes.

We returned to the city and wanted to find a place for dessert so we stopped in Coffee Shop, where the waitresses dressed all sexily and looked like models. Well, the men weren't so bad to look at either. We figured they were bound to be gay. Sad truth. Anyhow, I got the incredible chocolate brioche baked bread pudding with caramel ice cream and whipped cream. The scent of it was so rich and sweet; the taste simply orgasmic...

After we had finished, we parted ways and next time we'll do a sleepover because I want to see what's over at Staten Island, as well as take the free ferry to there. The way back to my place took awhile because the 7 doesn't run on weekends so I had to take a shuttle from Roosevelt. Ugh. So freaking annoying. To add to all this, it was coooold out there. I guess from now on I need my Amsterdam hat, soft black gloves and a scarf of which I have several so I can vary my look.

Tomorrow I start my internship which is kind of exciting but at the same time I wonder if they realize it's Martin Luther King Day... Oh well.
