Thursday night I had the opportunity to see the 25th Anniversary show of "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" at Madison Square Garden! PM had gotten tickets from a different show, and needed someone who could start waiting in line during the afternoon. I got there on time, but PM was quite late because the buses weren't on schedule. At least I had brought a book with me, and started chatting with a PR professional who was really nice. PM finally arrived and she found out that she had Priority Tickets which meant that we get in first.
Before going in, I dashed across the street for a slice of combo suprema pizza in case the food there was expensive. PM and I chatted with the folks in front of us, then they led us in around 6:30. Though we didn't get seated til around 7p. PM and I were right-smack dab in the middle and at a pretty good location- Could see the screens fairly well. All the seats were not too great though, because we were backstage so can't really see the performers live (except maybe the backs of their heads).
I bought myself a huge thing of fresh popcorn and the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" started around 8p. First off, Tom Hanks introduced the show and in came Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Their songs were very mellow, nice to listen to. They brought on Bonnie Rait who was great. Next was Paul Simon, then Simon & Garfunkel who were awesome. I love their music! And then a whole lotta other wonderful musicians came up to showcase their talent: John Legend, Lil Anthony (they did an a cappalla song- It was soo beautiful!), James Taylor, Jackson Brown! Soo many greats.
Then, we spotted Stevie Wonder backstage. He looked good! He has such an amazing stage presence and voice. I found myself getting kind of emotional watching him perform. Smokey Robinson came up and did "Tracks of my Tears" He sounded soo damn amazing!
After Stevie was the headliner, Bruce Springsteen. For his act, they opened up the stage so we could see Bruce, the band and other guest artists. Bruce was quite incredible- Really energetic, crazy in a good way and fun! Really gave it his all- So passionate and rocker!
BB King, Sting and then BILLY JOEL came up and sang with Bruce. They did iconic songs like "Pretty Woman" "New York State of Mind" and much more. The show was supposed to be over at midnight, but they kept going until 1:30AM! Sweeeet, spectacular, so-worth-it show... I got to sit in on the 25th "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" I'm a part of history!
Halloween Eve I headed up to EK's apartment in the Upper East Side so that we could get ready together to go to Taj. I had my misgivings about partying there because I'm not a huge fan of the venue and I find it a little boring. But I decided to give it a shot and had 2 backup clubs close by, just in case.
Tonight, I went as a "naughty" school girl. The short-short skirt, tied white tee, black stockings with hot pink bows, hot pink bra, and black pumps.
It was great to see EK again. Got to catch up and she did my eye makeup, and helped put the fake lashes on- They look so amazing! I added my signature, glitter (silver this time) and then did my hair in 2 braids, casual loose style and that completed the look.
We cabbed it down to Taj, and we went in looking for T, GB, RG, G and others we were to meet there. We found a couple of them, but I didn't really get a chance to hang out with them because almost immediately met two guys. One had on a doctor's uniform and seemed really nice, and the other was a Roman god. I chatted it up with them and though the Roman bought me a drink, the doctor stuck by me the most- Trying to get close, to dance with me, and put his arm around me. A bit too much. But he was very sweet, and great at taking photos of me!
We went upstairs so I could see who was there, and found Captain Jack Sparrow, a fat fairy guy, Batman, and in general a much cuter crowd than downstairs. Stayed awhile, then went back down so I could find my friends, and ran into RG who is a pretty good friend of mine. It was nice to see her! She told me she that C was in the back, and I had actually seen AZ on stage earlier (am mad at him because he never called me!) so we went to find them. I was able to get a hug in but then C came back and both RG and I were confused because we thought they were over, but they had clearly come to the party together... Ugh, whatever!
RG and I found S (the doctor) again. He was starting to dance too close so I suggested we find my other friends. They were in the middle area, and having a great time dancing it up to awesome music, and taking lots of pictures. It was great to see everyone, and just hang out with the group.
Later, S started asking me about myself. He also asked me out to dinner and to take a walk at Highline. I agreed, but didn't specify a time and he told me he'd call tomorrow. I do want to see him again, but I don't like him, like him so I'm just not sure how to convey that to him...
He left before me, and I was itching to meet someone new, but seemed like most of the guys (at least the ones I even remotely liked) were already coupled up. I did, however, make eye contact with a cute white guy who smiled at me and was standing behind me for a few seconds. But then he walked away! Sigh...
I left after 2:30a with EK and T. We were at first looking for the subway, but EK decided to take a cab so I rode with her. The drive dropped me off at 42nd so I could get to the 7 train right away.
Well, turned out to be a really great and fun night. Taj was rockin'! Looking forward to more good times tomorrow! And hoping to meet lots of eye candy...
