*living my dream life*
The Weekend
kitten-kissed on July 14, 2008 at 2:05 p.m.

Above all love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Woke up late on Saturday and found the pair of hot pink flip flops at Payless then walked to the Queens Botanical Gardens, talking with a relative on the phone. I had been invited to go to Club Premier, a dance club, but EK called and invited me to poker night so I went... Decided to change it up a little. We played in a room at NYU Medical Center, which was very nice. I met a few others, and talked mostly with B and J. We set up for the first game and usually when I play, the others aren’t as skilled and I get good hands. However, this evening my cards sucked and most everyone was decent. Ah well, at least I wasn’t the first one out: I was the 3rd person out.

We decided to order some food after awhile. Everyone agreed on Lemongrass Grill—Thai food place and I got the pineapple chicken fried rice. There was a lot and it was delicious! So, we took a break to eat, chill and enjoy conversation.

The next game I sat out but it was still cool to watch. After all that, E drove me and some others back to Flushing. He has a little red sports car with a sunroof and I got to sit in front. I was dropped off first.

Sunday I had to meet CV around 56th St, to have lunch at an Italian restaurant. Strangely, he had made reservations but when he called Il Tieno in the morning, they said they were on vacation. So we just met a couple of blocks up at Bottega de Vino, which was a pretty nice place. We sat outside to bask in the sweet weather, and I was thinking about pasta but really tempted by the desserts, so that’s what I decided on. I picked Ambrosia Cake: It’s fluffy soft, whippy, and consists of vanilla, chocolate mousse, strawberries and Chantilly. Delicious!

After lunch, I headed to Time Warner and did a little shopping-browsing. Spent some time in Borders, reading magazines then got myself a potato and onion pizza (it was really yummy!), along with a chocolate chip cookie. I started reading some of Lucky, the true story of a gal who got raped and beaten and she’s considered “lucky” because she wasn’t murdered. Wow.

When I was done at Borders, I went into Armani and they sure have some beautiful dresses and jeans. I tried on two dresses: One was black and white patterned knit and it was cute, not knock-out though. I liked the little blue number with really stylish and sweet straps… It was over $100 though and I know that isn’t too high of a price, but above my budget for now.

I then went over to Chelsea, to go to Origins and when I got there, spotted J and she had remembered me from before so that was good. She introduced me to a few people she knew, which I appreciated. The service was great, as usual. (PS the pastor’s Australian!) Lovely songs and awesome message about the gifts that God gives us… It made me start to think about what my passions are and what I can give/offer to others. Here’s what I came up with:

Passions Fashion, Children, Literature, Friends, Family, Love, Life, Learning, Writing, City-life, Travel, Events (& planning), Dancing, Music, Movies, Poetry, Photos and Memories, Romance, Making Connections, Beauty, Animals…

After the service, J and I walked out to the front steps and a bunch of others joined us so we were chatting, getting to know one another and went to grab a bite to eat. Settled on Burritoville, and it was actually really tasty. I got the shrimp burrito, with rice, cheddar cheese, broccoli, etc. Would definitely go back. And I’m glad I know a few more people at Origins now.
