Woke up early to get myself to the Social Security office to take care of some business. It's ridiculous how long I waited to have something done that only took about ten minutes. Oh well, at least I got a head start on the day...
Next I headed to the Queens public library and got myself a card. Checked out Love Colors with a quiz inside to determine what my "love color" is. There was also a huge selection of DVD's but only picked two because they are 3-day rentals. I chose Derailed and Matchpoint.
I bought myself some purple grapes, then went back to the apartment to have some lunch. I enjoyed the tofu soup and what was left of the fried rice.
I took some time to begin the Writing Seminar 1 assignment about why it's a good idea to measure the effectiveness of an ad campaign. There were the obvious reasons that we had discussed in class, but I had to rack my brain a bit to get more original material in and it worked!
Headed to Kimmel for another InterVarsity meeting. There were great snacks: Tea, chocolate kisses, yogurt covered raisins, snow pea chips, pretzels... Anyway, we're studying Nehemiah and it's interesting reading about him. He's an excellent strategist and still remains humble and true to his God. What we got out of his example was that it takes time and a whole lotta prayer to plan for something to happen. Also, he doesn't reveal everything all at once, but takes things step by step.
I wanted to go to Union Square because friends told me there's a Forever 21 around that area but I wasn't sure how to get to Union Square. I find that most random people on the streets of New York City are not credible. It seems whenever I ask for directions, I get mislead, turned around, more confused or told to take a taxi, which is stupid because I'm not made out of money. I'm a poor little student here! Jeez.
So I didn't make it to Union Square, but found some cool places to shop nonetheless. There was Urban Outfitters, Wet Seal, Mandee's. I spotted an amazing pair of tall, glistening black stiletto boots with a bow on the side and they were on sale for $10... Unfortunately, they were also too small. Big sigh.
Then I came across a cute shoe shop where everything was $5-10! In I went and came out with two pairs of high heels. Both are open toe. One is sequined sparkling black with a bow and the other dark dark blue with white polka dots. All so adorable, but it's too cold to wear them just yet.
Class with Fraser Seitel was incredible, as always. He just has a way about him and he's so damn funny. He always cracks us up. And there's always extremely pertinent information about the PR industry and whatnot. I love it.
Tomorrow I will be attending a Burson-Marsteller (a well-known company in PR) career development workshop, then going out to the movies and dinner with friends. Yay!
