*living my dream life*
Weekend in New Jersey
kitten-kissed on January 15, 2008 at 3:07 p.m.

Saturday morning I took the train to New Jersey in order to see LL (whom I've known since elementary school), and her parents. They are a Greek family and I was looking forward to great food and great company. LL's father picked me up from the station and LL came home soon after I arrived at their house. It was really good to see LL again, after so long. Throughout the day as we got more comfortable around one another, we shared more stories, dramas, past adventures and just in general about our lives.

For the afternoon, EL had invited several neighbors to come over for snacks and talking. There was sausage; crackers; powdered sugar cookies; pineapple, orange and strawberries; pumpkin bread and more. Everyone seemed to be really nice and I spoke mostly with the London native who had many travel anecdotes and so on.

After the party, CS from Monterey called me and we spoke for about an hour. It was really good to talk with him and he said that I can level with almost every topic so that was cool. When that conversation was through, AZ and I chatted for a little bit. I hope that she will be able to visit me in NY soon...

LL and I decided to go to Friday's. We shared a three- course meal special and ordered quesidillas, chicken with melted cheese onions bell peppers and mashed potato all on a hot plate (was superb!) and peanut butter chocolate cake. Mmm.

LL went to bed afterwards because she had stayed up late the previous night so I called IS and it was lovely to hear his voice. We caught up with what's been happening in our lives and then I tried getting through to other people, but they didn't pick up.

Sunday LL had work at Bennigan's, a restuarant bar and I decided it'd be more interesting to go with her than stay at the house with her parents. In the beginning there wasn't a lot of people to talk with, but as more people came in, LL introduced me to the people she knew and they pretty much took me under their wing. It was all males and they were so sweet. They complimented me a lot, saying that I'm pretty and I have a good personality. At first I was quiet, but after a little bit I turned into my usual outgoing, fun, flirty self.

I hit it off with J the best. He has a real Brooklyn accent even though he's from Jersey. He just made me laugh a lot and was very insightful and easy to chat with. He also gave me a massage which was pretty nice. Also, the guys would buy me drinks (Shirley Temples and strawberry smoothie) and share the food: Chicken strips, wings, egg roll, broccoli bites, quesidilla, and potato skin with cheese and bacon.

Even though I had been snacking throughout the day, back at the house I still had a bit of dinner. EL had prepared chicken fingers, cous cous and broccoli. Everything was wonderful.

We then all went to the downstairs living room and watched Cars which I enjoyed. The only thing was that for some reason I was sleepy so I made it through all of the movie, except the ending. That really sucks because I don't know what happens... Ahh well.

Monday morning came and I bought a USB Wireless adapter to get internet at where I'm living. It was kind of costly but having the internet will be worth it.

LL took me to the train station in the early afternoon and when I was at the Penn Station, met up with IE. She had gotten tiny braided extentions for her hair and looked pretty fly. So we wandered around 34th St and Times Square. I had wanted to check out the MET (Metropolitan Museum) but wasn't sure when it closed so I'll save it for another day.

I got back to the apartment in Flushing without getting too lost this time. I'm glad I can find my way back there now. I was able to get hooked up to the internet as well, but the laptop got really tempermental: It wouldn't let me go to certain pages and the computer turned off by itself multiple times and now I don't have any internet. I hope this can be fixed soon...

Today I made my way to the main campus of NYU and it took me quite awhile to finally get there. At long last though I stumbled right into it and it's quite lovely. In the middle of Grenwich Village and everything... Once there it's easy to find everything else. I got my books, NYU student card, found a Jamba Juice and ordered the Morning Glory (it's got strawberries, raspberries, yogurt, peanut butter and granola -- excellent taste!), got to Washington Square Park and am now at the library. In a couple of hours there is a "Grad Life 101" Orientation program so I shall go to that and hopefully meet some cool people at the same time.
