So, Friday, I wasn't able to go to IE's graduation as was planned because OS wasn't feeling up to it. Plus, she was still in LA so we wouldn't have made it anyway. OS did say she would come up to spend some time with me though, and staying in Monterey allowed me to go to DLI's (Defense Language Institute, a school for the military) Language Day where there are foods from all different countries, performances-- Dancing, fashion show, martial arts and rooms dedicated to all kinds of cultures. Plus, I enjoyed looking at the good looking men. Mostly white guys, and much to my delight, many blue eyes and little smiles my way.
I met one of the guys while I was standing at the doorway, watching the scene... It was the Japanese culture room. So this guy was gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous: Tall, sandy colored hair, blue eyes. Here's what I think: Who needs "tall dark and handsome" when I can have "tall, white and gorgeous"! So chatted with him a couple of times, but didn't get his number...
I ran into M at the event which was awesome. It had been so long since I last saw her. I'm planning to go to Santa Cruz with her on Monday so that I can meet with GC, and maybe a couple others.
I then enjoyed a cherry snow cone, Thai iced tea with the black tapioca pearls which I got from the military men who didn't want it, some baklava and really thick crust pizza-- The way I like it.
Saturday was a lot of fun. Went with OS to San Jose area when we met with D and had a light lunch of ginger vegetable stir fry and noodles. Then headed to Los Gatos where we checked out a little thrift shop which had good deals. I picked out two books, and the others found some shoes and clothes. After that, we found a little shopping area not too far away and looked in a clothes shop, gallery of artwork by local artists, plants/flowers store and a bead place.
It was so hot that we had to stop at Jack in the Box for some really good smoothies. It helped us cool down. Then spent some time at the Dollar Tree, which was awesome! I found a lip pallette of 8 different colors and 6-colored eyeshadow set of silver, blues and greens: Really gorgeous. Also got really good conditioner, some caramels, bubblegum etc.
Next stop was Mountain View for a free fair full of live music, good food, great jewerly, works of art, soap, trinkets, and so on. It was a fairly long day so went back home to have a great homecooked meal and chill a bit. I wanted to go to the movies and see 17 Again but it was playing too late, so OS and I settled on Angels & Demons. Unfortunately, we were told the showing was really full so we decided to rent a movie instead. I had been meaning to see Twilight so got that one.
So, OS and I had some light popcorn and settled on the comfy black leather couch to enjoy Twilight. I thought the beginning was quite strange being introduced to the new town, and slow. As the movie went on and there was more action, it got much better. And of course the lead vampire was hot, hot, hot. And pretty boy-ish, which is my typical type.
Sunday morning I had a pancake breakfast which was delicious: Strawberries, sausage and chocolate chip pancakes. It was fun and I got to see some people that I've been wanting to see.
Spent some of the afternoon playing Wii Sports: Tennis and boxing. I'm pretty competent with both. Then, little JH came with LH and JH which was a lot of fun. We took turns playing different sports, and then I went with them to their place. I spent time with JH until it was dinner time. We had grilled to perfection pork chops; a vegetable dish; corn on the cob; fried rice; potato salad and special Chinese soup dumplings.
After eating, JH and I started watching Cats and Dogs. So, I have to do some more packing (going back to New York Tuesday night!) and wake up early tomorrow to go with M to Santa Cruz. In the evening time, I'm meeting with KT, NM, S and A will join us later which will be great. I always love hanging out with these guys!
