Saturday I had a date with DR at the South Street Seaport area. It was good to see him, and we had a good time. I enjoyed talking with him, walking around and exploring the area. Then we found a bench to sit and talk some more. After awhile of that, we found a place to eat dinner- Sequoia, with outdoor seating view of the water, boats, bridges, lights, and moon. It was an Italian seafood place, and I got the pasta with Blue King Crab, pea shoots, english peas, asparagus, creamy sauce and parmesan. Mmm! DR's rigatoni with sweet sausage was pretty good too.
When we were done eating, walked around the Financial District a little bit, passing by unique works of art, defunct fountains, and pretty housing buildings along the way. I had a good time with him. I would go out with him again.
I met with AW later on at night with the intention of going to Pink Elephant. We got together before club opening so we could catch up a bit since it's been awhile since we've seen each other. We hung out at Velour Lounge and the bartender seemed to like us, so got free drinks. Nice.
Arrived at Pink Elephant, and even though I knew of a guestlist the doorman told me that the guestlist tonight wasn't the one I mentioned so they couldn't let us in and there was nothing he could do. I am under the suspicion that I maybe didn't dress up enough, AKA not showing enough skin (had on long black skirt, boots, black & silver shirt and a jacket) since clubbing wasn't the only thing I had going on today. Sadly, I hear Pink Elephant is really nice so I do want to go in there at some point.
The guy from Velour knew people at Cain and Marquee, and I was partial to Cain because I've never been but AW wanted Marquee so we went there. Marquee's nice, and the music was really great but I wasn't really into any of the guys. The couple that I liked were already with girls. So I was kind of bored, and left before 2AM.
I still like going out, but am kind of over the club scene because I'm just not into those casual relationships. They don't fulfill, or satisfy. I want something deeper, something more, something real...
Sunday spent the day at the Renaissance Faire up at Fort Tyron Park around the Cloisters Museum. Really beautiful place. I enjoyed the walk up to the museum because there were stands of swords, jewelry, bath salts, face painting, food, clothing etc.
When I finally found the musuem entrance, I found AZ which was a good because I kind of like this guy. I've seen/met him a few times but never really got a chance to talk to him much. He complimented me on my outfit (was Renaissance-y but not over the top), and mentioned that I always wear pretty, vibrantly colored clothing that has the California vibe. Nice that he noticed.
Anyway, then CF and some others arrived and we started off watching the costume show. Made our way to the outdoor courtyard. AZ and I started planning the events of the day for the group, and then we were off! To begin with, we just wandered around the grounds and checked out the different stands.
Throughout most of the day, walked with AZ and it was so much fun. He's a very cool guy and definitely made me laugh and smile. I had told CF I kind of liked him, so when she saw him hugging me she segwayed the conversation into whether he had a girlfriend. The answer is no, and then she mentioned I don't have a boyfriend so there you go. His response was that he wasn't looking for a gf, because he just got out of a difficult relationship. Later in the day, when I was telling MM about how I'm tired of the casual, AZ overheard and revealed that the "difficult relationship" was because he wanted commitment and she didn't. Well, I'm glad he's that kind of guy.
So, we got to see jousting and AZ was sitting one bench above me so I at times I leaned against him. It was comfortable. I like being near him. And the jousting was really awesome and exciting. They did a lot of different competitions, and I loved watching the fighting.
We were going to stay for the falconry but the bird was poorly trained so left early. We got some fresh-squeezed lemonade and it's the best I've ever had. The perfect amount of sugar (lots), ice and lemony flavor. We continued walking and got to see Geogorian Chanting, as well as Songs about Damsels and Knights which was quite good. At this point, KL had joined us. It was great to see her.
Went back to where the jousting grounds were and got to see Medieval dancing which was really cool. Also got a chance to gossip about boys with KL. Even though AZ was sitting on my other side... Luckily he only seemed to hear about KL's exploits.
I had to leave earlier for dinner at Paradou in Meatpacking, so AZ came with to walk me to the subway station. It gave us more of a chance to get to know each other. He said it sucked that I was busy, because he was having some friends over and I guess he wanted me there. Aw. He gave me a long hug before I had to go, and told me "It feels good to hold you." Suh-weeet! He said he'll call me when he figures out something to do, or randomly call. He should. I defintely want to see him again.
Was able to get to Paradou at Little 12th St pretty quickly. It's a really nice place. We sat outside in the back and it has garden-like surroundings. And a great deal of 3 courses for the price of an entree ($24-$30). Plus, the waiter was cute!
As usual, really tough for me to decide what to get. I opted for the salmon appetizer but it was like lox and I couldn't stomach it. The waiter let me order another no questions asked. I got the arugula salad with pear, croutons and goat cheese. Pretty good.
As for the entree, I couldn't choose between duck, lamb and short ribs. The waiter suggested lamb immediately, but I was still not sure. When I told him my final choice of short ribs, he said "That's what I put down for you." How did he know! Anyway, they only had one more short ribs dish and I got it. =)
I was definitely impressed with the dish. Delicious mashed potatoes. Very juicy and succulent beef. I tried the duck (decent), lamb (too much red meat), chicken (not memorable) and steak (amazing!).
And we got almost every dessert and shared it all. There were two crepes: A chocolate and candied orange one, and a caramelized apple and apple brandy one. I loved the chocolate one. We also had warm banana flourless chocolate cake, a meringue and a fruit tart. Yumm!
I would definitely come back, especially for the awesome deal that's coming up in late October. Maybe with AZ as I mentioned Paradou to him and he seemed very interested in trying it.
All in all, a very sweet weekend!
