I got to watch 21 which is about a guy at MIT who got accepted into Harvard Medical School, but he needs $300,000. One of his professors introduces him to Blackjack and the concept of counting cards. This knowledge is used in weekend trips to Las Vegas and the team wins masses amounts of money. I actually really enjoyed the movie. It just got me pumped up. There was soo much that happened, and it flowed well. Everything came together and they way the movie was framed: Genius. And the main character: Such a cutie!
After the movie, we went out to eat at Bangkok House. I got the prix fix because it was such a great price. Of course I couldn't finish it all: They give you so much. Started off with chicken coconut soup, which had great flavor (even though I don't like coconut flakes). Salad with peanut sauce and Thai-style steamed dumplings, chicken pad thai and green tea ice cream.
One of the gals in the group lives in Flushing as well and had to take the 7 train to the end just like me so we went back together. It was cool talking with her.
Met up with a friend to study for the Writing Seminar 1 midterm then went out to eat. I got the most rich, divine, fudge-y Rockefeller chocolate mud pie. It was incredible. Couldn't finish it, but took it back with me.
Had dinner at DB's which was a lot of fun. She had gone to Switzerland over the break and we some had yummy chocolate. We shared some fun stories about past loves etc. We melted Rocette cheese and added onions then put it all on top of a potato. It was delicious. Then watched Catch Me if You Can. The beginning was quite boring, but after a bit turned out to be more exciting thankfully. Wasn't too bad.
This was also the weekend of seeing Rent on Broadway! Some of the characters were really different from the film version, but still sounded quite similar and everyone did an amazing job. I especially loved Roger because he was so passionate and had a fantastic voice. Tamyra Gray as Mimi (she was on the first season of "American Idol") was also superb -- different, but good. The show was incredible. So much energy, good vibes, emotion... I'm so glad I got to see it!
Am pissed at DB though. Only because I wanted to see him so badly and was looking forward to, after the show. Sigh.
